You'd have to think that now Knights is signed, Adelaide are only willing to trade draft picks. With the draft the way it is this year with GC involvement, what we have to offer won't be that exciting.

Apart from a trade with a WA based club for Griffen (him + a couple of picks might net us something reasonable), I can't see Adelaide being able to pull off any other 'big' trades. Unless they can work on some sort of three way deal with a WA & a VIC club perhaps.

It means everything, the Crows arent going to re-sign him and then trade him in 2 weeks time. Although Walker is contracted he appears keen to go and Carlton hold the power on whether they release him or not. This was my suggestion in another topic:

Trade Griffin as part of a 3 way trade with Carlton to get Jacobs across and Griffin to Freo with Tarrant to Carlton. May have to include a draft pick in as well to sweeten the deal, perhaps a 2nd or 3rd round exchange of picks.
I think Carlton will be happy to let walker go for the right price. He doesn't fit a specific role on their list. He could be the outside run and carry the crows need which carlton already get from Murphy and Scotland. I would think the draft pick from Bock would be sufficient (end of 1st round).

As Knights has now re-signed Griffin and draft picks are all we have to offer (are willing to offer). Assuming we use the Bock draft pick this year or trade it, our draft picks are 14, 26, 32, 49, 66, 83. I would imagine pick 14 doesnt get traded for anything, but would happily trade 26 for Walker and trade Griffin and 32 to Carlton for Jacobs and 45, who would on trade Griffin for Tarrant, leaving us with draft picks 14, 45, 49, 66, 83. And then assuming we snared both players and upgraded 3 rookies (Henderson, Jaensch and 1 of Schmidt, Thompson, Reily) we would only have 3 spots on the senior list which would be picks 14, 45 and 49.

Looks good Pat, but I don't reckon the Blues would be happy with pick 26 for Walker. I reckon they would want 14 at the very least. The only thing that sweetens pick 26 is that it can be used in any of the next 4 drafts, which might make it a bit more viable. Still don't think it would be enough though.

Its a tough one because Carlton are likely to delist a few and will be looking for draft picks and Adelaide would gladly give away 66 for free but with Walker contracted Carlton can call the shots. Adelaide may end up losing pick 26, 32 and Griffin for Jacobs and Walker and Carlton keeping pick 45, meaning we would have 14, 49 and 66. I would be happy for the Crows to do this as I really rate Walker and think there is enough depth in this draft that 66 can still be a handy selection. Plus the depth of our rookie list and the improvement of Sloane, Danger, Davis, Jaensch and Henderson this year along with the return of Otten has me thinking our depth is fine. But it is a big risk to take in trading an end of first round and 2nd round pick in the one draft from a team that has been known to be conservative in the past. The one thing I wouldnt trade for Walker though is #14, you can never stop developing your list and 1st rounders are generally long term players.

i reckon if we are to get Andrew walker we ned to trade griffin to the eagles and get a second round draft pick, then get involved in a three way deal with carlton who is trading with other club for a player to try and lower what we have to give up.

The second option is to trade griffin to the eagles and get a second daft pick, than give carlton two second round draft picks and see if they will accept probably after they have received a tall like micklenley, tarrant or Brennan may be more willing to agree to that.

Andrew walker has to be main target out of the two because i reckon Sam Jacobs is more likely to go to the power who need more ruckmen.

The Power need more ruckman. Disagree. They have Brogan, Trengrove, Lobbe and Redden.

Trengrove - KKP not ruckman
Lobbe - under developed by PA
Redden - WHo?

That's the rumour re the trade.

  that will not be the trade for sauce. Remember he is out of contract. That will be more like trade for andrew walker. And remember Carlton want a key defender more than the crows want a ruckman

As seen in past PSD's - a club won't draft a player that doesn't want to be at their club/in their state. More likely the Crows will get him for free in that situation.

He's come off the rookie list in 2007 and played 17 games in 3 years. Plenty of potential, don't get me wrong, but that only gets so far on the trade table.

Regardless, it will certainly be interesting to see how it all plays out.
