Interesting to see a news report likening him to Tony Modra!

I think the only thing they have in common is they are both forwards. Gone are the days of the typical leading full forward.

Kicked 5 in a half, one snap could have gone anywhere and did nothing else. Must have been a slow week for the rookies.

Well done Taylor.

5 in a half of a footy against the reigning world champions is a good effort.

3 rising stars for the Crows this year for the first time ever. It was only a matter of time for Walker to get one.

Gees you're a bloody stirrer Booney, quiet arvo?

Well done Taylor, bloody good game on the weekend. If he can do that for a half I can't wait to see what he can do when he strings 4 quarters together!

Just think that Walkers nomination came after a game that he really, in all honesty, didnt star in compared to Rich,Ziebell and co have.

Played well, but I am sure he has much better performances ahead of him and I think the selectors of the Rising Star sometimes look for that, consistent performances and IMO Walker hasn't doen that in the last few weeks.

5 goals in the first half, when the game was on the line. He deserved the nomination.

Booney you are talking about midfielders who are around the footy for the majority of the game.... As a forward you have to do your job when the ball is in the area and he starred doing that on the weekend kicking 5 with if you have seen walker a snap that he can do with his eyes closed .....

Port wouldn't mind a GOOD young forward ;) Oh no you have TREEDDDDERS

I reckon he deserved this nomination, well done.

Now I have a question for the crows. WTF did he then start on the bench against the bombers. In that first quater when all the attention was on tippett he could off snuck in for a few.

Player management. This is a kid playing his first season of AFL footy and the club wants him to last the 22 rounds without burning out. He's had significant gametime in a few matches, and spent more time on the bench in others. Admittedly a couple of times I've wondered where the heck he is but looking at the bigger picture they're not handling him too badly imo.

*bump*

Just wondering what people think of Taylor now and how he has been managed.

The kids confidence must be shot and I would think he might not play for the Crows again this year...thoughts?

Bugger, when I saw you'd posted on this thread I thought I was in for another quality piece of Booney fiction a la the Tippett thread a couple of days ago. Miles Franklin stuff that was! ;)

I think perhaps the selection panel buckled and picked him last week when he shouldn't have been picked, easy to say in hindsight though. I think up until last week they had managed him very well, and still, this weeks axing will be a good lesson for the young fella.

Tippett had a similar first year last year in that he came onto the scene and made an immediate impact, only to fade and eventually be dropped towards the end of the season. He's come back bigger and better this year and I'd back Walker to do the same next year.

Walker is still full of potential in my mind, just a couple of years off realising it yet. :)

As Booney said this kids confidence must be shot to pieces by now.

Surely with finals a long shot at best an eye on the future with Taylor in favour of Burton would have been the right thing to do............thoughts?
