With the new outlook on bumps and clubs discouraging them at AFL level, it might be a good thing for country footy and even at SANFL level if they can retain the tough aspect of the game as the AFL gets a tad softer each year.

I think the idea is that bumping at that level is safer than tackling. Harmless little kid style bumping that is, not 1980s style shirt fronts![]()
They learn tackling later. I assume there's some logic in the way the kids are prepared for a contact sport.
I think Rowey's being mischevous, he heard that from a caller (or an interview) a few weeks ago.
