WTF are soccer loonies thinking whan asking FIFA to send a World Cup to Australia when the domestic competition is the 4th ( at very best ) code in the country and rarely gets over 10k to a match.

Australia won't get the world cup. Our time zones don't match up with the majority of the audience. So any discussion about Adelaide oval hosting world cup soccer matches is irrelevant

Precisely why it is unlikely to happen again unless you can advertise directly to at least 100 million people (Japan Korea or China) TV execs in Europe and US are still spewing about it....

Unlike other Sports this decision wont solely be based around the almightly $$$$, if that was the case why would they take it to South America and South Africa?

The FIFA World Cup has the largest television audience of any sports event in the world. More viewers than the Olympics. It attracts sports fans from around the world. Why wouldn't you want to be hosting that?

4/ We don't want ot have our lives disrupted period, by the logistics hassle staging this would create.

When I was at the Oval on the weekend I thought about how they might structure the Oval for the World Cup, I reckon the thought might be that you would put the pitch as far South on the ground as possible and temporary stands would go up the Northern end of the stadium, most probably on the grounds surface, therefore making the ground more intimate for soccer, it may even increase the capacity of the ground depending on the sixe of the temp seating...

No probs mate not suggesting it is all rosy at Alberton, but to say the treatment of Magpies fans by Power fans is shocking based on some isolated incidents is wrong. Do all Central supporters let off flares? Do all Crows supporters drink chardonnay? Hardly. Ya cant paint everyone or even the majority based on an isolated incident.

In hindsight i prob agree the PAMFC shouldnt been born, but having said that i wouldnt have been happy with that at the time. And i def would love to see Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.

No worries mate wasn't looking for a fight Seeing I married into a Port supporting family .And I hate to say this but I understand the Powers that be did a survey and found more Port people drink Chardonnay than Crows .But who knows I go to the footy to watch it .
And personally I think the power are suited to adelaide oval

the survey was done by the geographical and demographic unit at the uni of adelaide - also found that there is more farmer's union iced coffee drank at crows games per capita than port games.

i'd like to see an afl game at adelaide but its kinda weird that port may be playing there while adelaide's home is more west lakes...

i know i'm more likely to go to a port game now but certainly no more likely to start supporting them.

We live close to the tram line so when our boys are older the trip to AO is as simple as it can be. 15 minutes max.

So if a Port game is on at the right time for them and we want to see an AFL game we could easily go along. I'd prefer a Crows game obviously but the AO makes the whole trip much easier making a Port game a possibility I wouldn't bother with if it was a AAMI.

I guess that's the whole point.

It won't happen.
The $450 million will have to be diverted to completing Mike Rann's villa in Italy so that he will step down, gracefully, sufficiently far ahead of the next state election for adequate party renewal...

The problem exists with the ownership of our two clubs.

This must change, sharing profits between the SANFL (9 clubs + SANFL) x our 2 AFL clubs.

Andrew Demetriou is pushing at 100mph to get AFL played at Adelaide Oval, this is direct from a person within the SANFL and they are not one bit happy about it.

Good, I hope they can see the irony of them trying to take over all suburban and regional leagues accross South Australia through the Community Football league and yet be offended if the AFL try to stick their beak in the SANFL's affairs.
