Not a rumour now JT he has retired

On AA tonight when they were talking about Thurstans' retirement, Stephen Rowe said "great career". Now he must be kidding if he thinks a player like Toby Thurstans has had a great career....

I had a wry smile today while cleaning up some old email records for deletion I found one I had sent to the hierarchy at Port Adelaide Power in June 2006.

Have you guys considered looking at Toby Thurstans as a defender - he strikes me as, potentially, a good player in a straight ahead role, but he doesn't change direction well. He has proved marginal as a forward. If he succeeds that gives you more flexibility with Chad Cornes, Pettigrew, and Chaplin, especially with Tredrea in difficulty.
EPIGENETICS - Lamarck was right!

- Professional on and off the ground.
- Players never say die - never give up.
- Club history embraced

Everytime I hear Brett Kirk or someone talk about 'The Bloods' I actually believe they're sincere whereas the 'Live the Creed' campaign just seems just like a glib PR exercise to me.

Maybe I've been living in Sydney too long...

;)

I am and always have been a Port tragic. I hate it when so called "Supporters" bag our players.
HOWEVER, I believe Kane Cornes is the most Over-rated player in the AFL. He is a great ball getter, no doubt about it - and still can tag effectively. He's got a huge engine and tries his heart out. Yes he is committed, professional, desperate, and he leads by example. BUT HE IS ONE OF THE WORST DECISION MAKERS and DISPOSERS in the AFL. His turn-overs on Saturday night were appalling.I really think he does not hurt opposition sides with his touches and rarely kicks goals; like many of his mid-field team-mates - and that is what Port really needs right now -goal-kicking midfielders.
I believe he has value as a trade option and Port should get a decent player now while he is still highly respected and regarded. He will never improve his disposal skills so he is always going to be a liability IMO. I bet the Crows wouldn't take him, because of his poor kicking skills.

Kane Cornes has taken over the mantle from Chris McDermott as the turn-over king of the AFL. He is a large part of the reason why Port get caught on the rebound and put the defence under so much pressure. A 30 metre kick (at best) forward, followed by the opposition getting the ball and running it into an attacking position, and usually scoring from it.......

Even though he has a high possession rate, he is never tagged. Why you might ask..........cos the opposition actually like him to get the footy, knowing it will be in their hands again real quick. I seriously doubt any other club would consider him.......

The decision to keep him will be as stupid as the one to keep Choco.

I hear Kane Cornes is as good as gone. Whether he goes to the crows or somewhere else, I dunno, but he is on the nose at Alberton...

Heard he could be heading to West Coast. Interesting to see if that happens.

I have read today that Glenn Dawson has nominated for the pre-season draft, I was unaware that Port had cut him, when did this happen? No suprise when he couldn't crack the league side at the Eagles.

Mid-last week he was cut. I think just in time to allow us a pick in the rookie draft.
