Agreed, foolish by Melbourne. One of if not the best midfielder at Carlton and will only get better as he is still young. Melbourne are surely meant to be starting their run up the ladder sometime soon, well obviously not with trades like this.

I don't reckon, I see this deal as a legitimate win-win for each club ... Carlton are much closer to a premiership window and pickup a quality player ... The Dee's MUST rebuild through the draft, so they add to their already impressive selections (not to mention already impressive list of kids).

Good move by both clubs IMO.

McLean is a deat set paddler who runs on the spot and has looked good because he has been playing in the worst team.

Who will he replace? The skilled Stevens....nope. Doesn't posses the skills Stevens does.

Scotland? Maybe.

Booney, in a team full of outside players, McLean will be extremely handy.

He wont replace Stevens, but he could be taking the in and under role that Judd has had to play a bit in the last two years, thus freeing up Judd who will take the outside spot of the fatty fatty boom boom Stevens

with recent revelations that the next captain is Aaron Davey, could this be a part of the reason Brock decided to move? he may have thought himself a chance of being the next captain?

Davey captain?

McLean is a quality player, very tough, in and under, wins the contested ball. Some people overlook those underrated traits.

yeh. if i was a dees fan, i'd probably rather Brent Maloney as captain before Davey. but word is the only way he would sign longer than 2 years was to entice him with the possibility of taking over the captaincy from McDonald at 2010 end.
