Bye Bye Burton

Talk on the national game

To be fair, the crows were apparently going through a rebuilding phase at the start of the year and were supposed to finish poorly. They lost every game excluding round1 against the top four sides. Think that through.....ok, Yes they did very well to get to where they did and maybe missed an opportunity to make a pre-lim final. but..... Why all of a sudden is that Craig gets questioned after a loss to a top four side??? Just because its in finals? Adelaide were beaten by a very handy collingwood side. I think everyone is over-rating the crows, next year and the following 5 or so years they will be great but the last couple of years they have just been making up the numbers and have played well enough to make the finals but not good enough to beat the dominant sides(geelong, hawthorn, collingwood). Neil Craigs finals record is not really a true indication of his ability as a coach......yet. Wait till after 2011 and then make a judgment. I think IF the crows struggle in finals with the group they will have over the next few years then he can cop it

I'm with Mrs Wedgie - Burton should have gone 6 years ago.

And Malthouse may be a great coach, but why then are Collingwood gonna p*** him off in two seasons for (untried) Buckley to come in?

One reason - they cant bear the thought of Buckley being anywhere else. Oh, and Voss has done well this year so Buckley is bound to be a good thing.

what wonderful logic Squawk....
Still, I s'pose we should keep Malthouse until his corpse is wheeled out....
& even more confusing Squawk, what has Collingwood's coaching succession plan got to do with Brett Burton?

Been a good player but his time has come, sure he can still take a good mark but just doesnt get enough ball these days, even when the Crows were flying tonight he fumbled and was rarely seen. Did you see him blowing up in the last quarter when fitness was critical?

Id keep the other over 30's for another year but room has to be made for the future

My opinion of course but a hard call needs to be made

Agree with this. Burton is struggling.
Let burton go because your about to need the space in the cap to keep Tippett.

Yep, me too, I will drink to that idea but only because I'm thirsty!

Mate you can drink it because your thirsty. At the end of the Day Tippett is a rising star and a Gold Coast boy, and they will be able to offer him something like 800K easily. So I would suggest you get Burton out of the side for a rookie and make some room in that cap because if you want to keep the Great White Hope in Tippett your going to need some Cash!
Read my reply. It is directed at you because you have double standards
