final 8 positions up for grabs

Talk on the national game

final 8 positions up for grabs

Postby nuggety goodness » Mon Aug 17, 2009 2:37 pm

i have been havin a bit of a play with the AFL ladder predictor and have come up with some interesting scenarios, which aren't really out of the question TBH...

http://www.afl.com.au/ladder%20predicto ... fault.aspx

have a go at that...

my doggies could finish anywhere from 3rd to 7th depending on results and need to beat Geelong and Collingwood to make sure of a top 4 finish, VERY tough!

If Essendon lose to Fremantle (slight possibility) then lose to Hawthorn in Rd22, bye bye to finals for them too!

Carlton V Adelaide in rd 22 will determine who gets a home final in the first week, or if the Bullies drop a game, who finishes top 4...

very good last few weeks coming up i think!
I am not talking to you for 3 minutes because you punched me in the head and it hurt and that was not okay for you to do

I am liking the look of Essendon for 8th spot so long as they win in the west this week like they did a few weeks ago

They seem to be the only team that want it!

not necessarily,if the bombers lose there last 2 but so do port and sydney, and the hawks only win 1 of their last 2 then the bombers will make it with 9 wins-unbelieveable.

Sorry, you're right they did lose.

I was doing my tips earlier thinking it would be a great effort to win over there twice in one season. But of course they didn't beat WC

There is something else on offer besides 8th as well. I reckon 4th spot is as much up in the air as 8th. The Bulldogs have to play Geelong and Collingwood in the last two games. They would have to win at least one of those games to keep Carlton at bay who play Melbourne this week.

What a coup it would be for the Blues if they could snaffle fourth spot. With victories over Geelong, Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs you can't say they wouldn't be a worthy top four side. I reckon the Sainters would probably prefer a first final against the Bullies than the Blues too just quietly.

regards,

REB

I did it just before and it came out like this:

St Kilda 84 points
Geelong 76
Collingwood 64
Carlton 56
Brisbane 54
Bulldogs 52
Adelaide 52
Port 40
Essendon 38
Hawthorn 36
Sydney 32
West Coast 32

First week of finals:
Qualifying
St Kilda v Carlton
Geelong v Collingwood

Elimination
Brisbane v Port
Bulldogs v Adelaide

Mine looked similar CN, but I had Adelaide to beat Carlton in R22, and finishing 4th.

Also had Essendon 8th, and Port missing out.

although the bombers had a great win against the saints, but they will find it extremely tough to win either of its last 2 games with the injuries they have to key players now,so as much as i hate to say it port for 8th spot then they will get flogged in the 1st elimination final.

8th spot will go Steven Bradbury style to the winner of the Hawthorn v Essendon game cos Port will probably lose to North Melb. in rd 22!
