I enjoy the odd game of Union but how you can say it's better than Footy is beyond me. Match after match of this sport is totally ****** up by pedant refs who blow their whistle for **** knows what and stop the game again and again and then yet again. In some matches nothing ******* happens until the last minute of the game when suddenly one side decides to attempt to score and win the match at the very death.
And talk about technical! This year in Super XIV the teams have to crouch-touch-pause-ENGAGE at every scrum. Trying to get these knuckle draggers to count to four prior to the scrum is an absolute joke and time and time again we get the unedifying 'spectacle' of another scrum being reset as once again the ref isn't happy. Last year was bad enough and that was with crouch-pause-ENGAGE. Why add the additional step? All it does is confuse the meatheads and make the most technical aspect of the game more difficult to adjudicate and more difficult to put into operation.
I really enjoyed round one of the Super XIV but the matches in round two that I saw were absolute carp. Give me a Sydney v Adelaide flood fest anyday over what was served up in Sydney by the Tahs and the Chiefs last Friday night.
