Besides they would have got easy an extra 10-12k at last nights game if the AFL had the brains to play it at the SCG. The AFL is seriously deluded if they think a team in Western Sydney is going to take off.

I think you may find Sydney had a contractual obligation to play the game at Homebush.

Exactly....Sydney have to be off the SCG so they can prepare for cricket

2007 First Elimination Final (Hawthorn vs Adelaide) Attendance: 36,534
2008 First Elimination Final (adelaide vs collingwood) Attendance: 37,685

only 1000 more. but is still a bigger crowd.

Cool, simple answer is to not have any Adelaide team play finals.

Its a matter of the intergrity of the finals comp v better advertisement/finances for the game.
Mind you Geelong haven't got to play a home final and have to play all their finals in Melbourne, should be the same rules for everyone.

isnt it the cats choice to have finals and most of their home games in melbourne. they get more money

No on a few counts, they don't have most of their home games in Melbourne so you're wrong there, yes, it is their choice to play SOME home games in Melbourne, NO it isn't their choice to play finals in Melbourne, they have no choice and never have, they were told one year they couldn't play finals at Kardinia Park as it was too small and at the time it held 24k and yet the AFL allowed finals to be played at the GABBA who at the time held 19k.
Mind you , you wouldn't hear that on KG and Cornsey, god bless that chip on shoulder pathetic crap that so many believe.

If I witnessed the same occuring on the Power board I'd recommend the same thing, personally I don't think a Power board is warranted as I'd prefer to see a board conducted around a successful club like Geelong but meh.

They were saying on the radio this afternoon it was $75(per adult) to go Saturday Night. That seems a "little" excessive for an elimination final.

AFL has no idea on Sydney when the sides are winning every man and his dog are there when losing well there is no telling how low they will go. Tasmania for the AFL over West Sydney.

It's simple...if they want bigger crowds, make it more affordable for the average Joe to go.
No wonder there's a continuing surge of support for the SANFL!
Time to move all finals to Melbourne is a rediculous statement, and as elitist as the AFL itself.
The AFL should charge more for the TV rights for finals, lower the price dramatically to attend, and play the games live on TV.
The majority of empty seats are more than likely the average Joe.
The people who can afford to go obviously do.
That should go a long way to fixing the problem.
Failure is only the opportunity to begin again more intelligently.

All team knew that this was the case when they signed on that the finals would be played where the winning team won.
Just because Victorian teams won you don't like it, Get real.
If you want games there get teams that don't choke. You have been supported enough as it is.
And Geelong knew that they have to play finals game at the G so I see no reason why people complain about things like this. Its been happening for so long. So stop you whinging the lot of you.

I know Wegs is stirring the pot, fair enough too, but there are decent reasons why September footy has to be made attractive to the patrons. At the moment the AFL hikes the prices up each week as we move deeper into September.

In Sydney for instance, why the hell would you go all the way out to Homebush to see the Swans in the driving rain, when the game was live against the gate. You also wouldn't think a team like the Kangas would have bus loads full of people going to Homebush.

Plus, knowing Sydney (if they win) will go into a final in Melbourne, Sydney siders might've just decided to save their $'s for a trip to Vic the following week(s).

IMO you have to make the footy more appealing if you want to draw big crowds to the first week of finals. Keep the prices as they are, in fact in SA, make it zero for gold members as a bit of a reward and incentive for the following year. I don't really understand why (I heard) you had to pay $50 a ticket if you were a gold member.

Tassie should have a team well before another team get into Sydney. Tasmania have a good footy following much better that Sydney. And they have suppied more tallen than most states have to football.

Tickets have already been lowered in Adelaide, the cheapest finals tickets in the nation are here.
I agree with bringing in a Tassy side instead of West Sydney.
West Sydney will potentially be a huge disaster. They were giving away tickets for the Swans final.
Surely the AFL have to wake up and realise that if the Swans who are established and recently successful cant draw 20k in a final then a new team will have no chance.

PS Not stirring the pot at all, just asking a question.
