Despite the long break and the return to the VFL, it seems he simply isn't interested in adding to his 32 games.

There seems to be a range of reasons but my favourite has to be that he finds Melbourne "too cold".

At least he's honest

Maybe GC17 and warmer weather (and a downturn in the building industry) may entice him back one day
In between signatures .....

This will test the Cats depth
21-1 record without him and without Tom Hawkins in the first 22...hmmm i doubt they will feel the impact.

Quite unbelievable.. I reckon his next goal may be to quit quitting. I think the weight of expectation may have got the boy.
A winner never quits and a quitter never wins.. So who came up with the saying quit while your ahead.
Respecting that someone's allowed to have an opinion doesnt at all mean you must respect that opinion.

I'm more worried about whether we can retain Brent Prismall myself. He is going to be a top footballer but if he doesn't get a gig in the finals we'll lose him. If we weren't playing against the Saints I reckon Wojinski would miss and Rooke has been ordinary as well this year but gets a game because we want his 'mongrel' come September. With Kelly, Mackie, Wojinski and Rooke all out of last week's team there might not be room for Prismall.

I reckon Gamble and Byrnes are the first to get the chop, then the improved Varcoe and unfortunately Prismall is the next cab off the rank. Personally I'd wouldn't play Wojinski who to me is something of a one trick pony, even though he excells against St Kilda who are not the fastest combination going around.

Sorry to go off topic here but Nathan Ablett simply isn't worth worrying about. He helped us get last year's flag but this group is all about the next four weeks.

regards,

REB

I said this the previous time Ablett quit. The guy just doesn't want to play AFL football and it's time everyone involved accepted that and let him get on with his life. Not everyone thinks being an AFL footballer is the ultimate achievement in life, and Ablett is one such person. There's nothing wrong with that.

I guess having the name "Ablett" and having a number of good mates at the club makes Nathan "sort of" want to play, so that part would be hard for him.

IMHO, had this been the semi-professional days of the VFL in the 70s and 80s, Nathan would be playing.
