AFL mid-season bye

AFL bye rounds, some sides need them badly, some sides not so much.
Teams desperate for bye
- PortAdelaide, running on empty, self doubt will start creeping in
- Melbourne, so they have a legitimate reason not to turn up.
- essendon, more for a mental rest then anything.
- StKilda, tired, sloppy, no confidence, no depth.
- Collingwood, been doing tough with injuries, the break couldn't come at a better time.
- Brisbane, was playing a real physical type of footy, starting to take its toll, looked lacklustre on Fri.

Teams that the bye has cost momentum,
- WestCoast, building momentum, a number of players starting to get fitness after returning from injuries, confidence high.
- Adelaide, finally hitting some form, and becoming match hardened.
- Fremantle, playing really good football, with a couple of major injuries, ferocious tackling side
- WesternBulldogs, young side starting to gel, still no forward line, but have a hunger
- NorthMelbourne, just a mental thing and win against St Kilda might kick start them as they are playing good footy until the last 5 mins
- GoldCoast, have been impressive, confident, riding a wave of good form and know they can match it with some good opposition, even tho, the bye might be good for a freshen up
- Carlton, starting to put consecutive wins together.

Teams it won't matter
-Geelong, they rotate so many blokes without effect, have a lot of gears, can cruise at whatever speed they like.
-Hawks, been playing some weak opposition of late, giving some players a crack at senior football, Good time for Franklin to have a form slump, Cyril to come back. Winning without having to do much.
- Sydney, they just win, they don't get a lot of injuries, older blokes might want a break. And have an easy run the few rounds after the bye, until it gets harder towards the end of the year.
- GWS, have been non competitive most of the year, bye will give some young bodies a break.
- Richmond, who knows, hot, cold, hot, cold.

Good analysis there copter. I reckon any team that has a lot of young bodies needs that bye so that includes Gold Coast and GWS. The Coast are starting to get it right now but still can't run out the full four quarters as has been shown in the last two weeks against the Hawks and the Cats.
