Then all of this is let go as soon as they step into another country where they are not known and dont have the club and media looking over them for a slip up.

Hopefully some good can come of this tragedy and teach some of the young blokes that life is so precious and can be taken in an instant with one simple mistake.

Great post Dutchy

It makes me wonder if they need to extend the "designated driver" concept to a designated non-drinker when on overseas trips. So one of the lads takes on the role of staying sober and keeping track of where eveyone is. It sounds like John got isolated late at night in a foreign country and has made some bad decisions without anyone there to help him.

Maybe that's unrealistic that one of the lads stays sober. Maybe they need a minder. Someone needs to know where these blokes are especially late at night.

Im not a fan of this.
Surely they are allowed a few weeks on their own without dealing with the football.

Absolute tragedy which ever way you look at it and really a life so young lost and no one may ever know what the "trigger" was despite a lot of evidence and also speculation.

However over on the Power from Port Forum - fans are calling for a trophy in his honour re matches played between Collingwood and Port. I have some issues with this because these types of perpetual trophies should remember significant on field or off field deeds or memories and I am not sure this warrants it. I am not sure his family or indeed the PAFC would want to remember aspects of this tragedy if as it appears some of the circumstances point to the obvious.
Piss weak SANFL and the CLOWNS who run it.

The more news that comes to light just makes the whole incident even more baffling.

I guess we will never truly know and how sad is that.

Toxicology reports might shed a bit more light, but they'll never be made public.

Now reports surfacing that the club they went to Drugs were freely available. Now not implying that any of them partake in that sort of activity but raises the question of a drink spike.....

McCarthy, by all reports, was a bit of a god-botherer. I have doubts he was willingly getting on it and the fact the he was obviously confused at the time suggests he may not have been aware of having ingested any mind-altering substances.

Drugs are readily available at most places on the strip! To be honest this could have happened someone was on drugs or drunk. I was in Vegas in 09 and not having been anywhere in the world before then having a boys trip for a mates 30th was an eye opener and I was 29, if I went at 22, I could have easily got into a heap of trouble, its just not the same as here and staying together was important. I rekon I was offered drugs on a daily basis and from the strangest most unexpected people, just seemed like normal middle aged guys and limo drivers. I actually hope that they do keep the toxicology results private, let him rest and be remembered for the good, nothing anyone can do to change how it happened now, the why is for his family to know.
