reckon the winner will be the loser ;)

can't see either side making the finals so we may as well get a lower draft pick at least haha

Thats all I'm hoping for now. Good signs going into next year. More games into Ellis, Rance, Martin etc:

I was in a pickle on Sunday, had a multi on. $69 on to collect $475.

Had a Sunday Special (all three games).Sydney line..check! the kangas v rich game was under 203.5 is what i needed.

Game ended up on 202. So if richmond scored a winning goal i was losing my bet  catch 22 right there! third leg was free -93.5 so got that up by 1.5 points. All three legs scrapped in for a return for the syndicate i run!

I'm glad my clubs supporters (generally speaking) doesn't think like this. Tank away gentlemen, only one team has been a bottom dweller and won a flag and that was the Hawks. Every other mob that has gone that way has won bugger all. I'd rather my mob play every match to win and miss out on a draft pick any day of the week.

Could probably say that West Coast has also benefited out of bottoming out too.

Finished 14th in 2001 (and 13th in 2000), and then runners up 2005, premiers 2006. Similarly bottom 2 years ago, then 4th a year later, and in top 4 contention this year.

While it is good that Geelong haven't bottomed out and tanked, they've had a dream run with Father/Son picks at ridiculous selections. It's not only being able to pick up the likes of Ablett at #40, it's the other early picks left available to pick up the likes of Bartel, Kelly and Johnson in the same draft. So if I was a Geelong supporter I wouldn't go around and point fingers at clubs that have got early or bonus draft picks for one reason or another.
I hate that teams get lazy and think that tanking for a few years will get them success, if St Kilda, Melbourne and Carlton never win a flag with any player they drafted while tanking I'll put it down to the footy Gods.

I wouldn't class finishing down the bottom for one year as tanking, I'd class tanking as finishing down the bottom in numerous years so you get priority picks.

Sometimes u only need to "tank" for one game and get a benefit. Eagles probably did it best to only have one poor year, u get a gun pick and keep the core of a good team. As a Carlton supporter i never wanted us to tank and would just want to win every game, wether we did or not is up for debate i guess.

It's got nothing to do with pointing fingers really. It's got everything to do with believing that your team is going out there to win every game. I remember the Kruezer cup match when the Carlton fans cheered a Melbourne goal. That aint footy my friend.

A lot of people have bought the father son myth. Gary Ablett and Matty Scarlett are guns and Hawkins was also a good get. However may I present to you Donohue, Clarke, Woolnough, Blake. As for the players you mentioned Bartel spent some time in the magoos before coming good, we tried to trade Johnson because we thought his ankles (and brain LOL) were shot...luckily Collingwood agreed and said no mind you..only Kelly caught on quickly. A lot of Geelong's success...and I mean a lot has to do with Stephen Wells. The bloke is a genius. Now 2001 is a fair time ago now but we would have had to trade to get so many early draft picks..wasn't that about the time that Ronnie Burns lobbed at Adelaide? Development and List management and good drafting is why the Cats did well, not because of this father son bullshit. Essentially the Cats have had one chance to draft big time and we nailed it big time. We haven't had too many top ten draft picks. Bartel, Corey and Kane Tenace (ACK) are the only players that spring to mind since Bomber took over.
