Didnt at all mate, Knights for me burnt far to much footy be in the best players though. Much debate has been had re VB as skipper but his performance last night is what we need from him week in week out as skipper. He isnt going to cacth the eye like others but never the less was very important to setting it up for us.

What did you think of van Berlo's comment "We did it out of respect for Craigy"....."he was very important to us".....?

Is that a direct quote? I thought he said something like 'thanks to craigy who has put alot of work into this group'. I dont see any problem with thanking a coach who has been there for many of the players careers.

Ahhk didnt hear that, I only heard what he said on the ground which i thought was good. Still I have no problems with them showing gratitude towards last weeks coach adn the coach of 7 years. Yes performances werent there, it but doesnt mean the total respect for what he has done for AFC goes out the window over night!

nice to get a win over the rivals but wow the standard of the game really showed why our 2 SA sides are near the bottom of the ladder.

really surprised to have such a great crowd

Unfortunately I was there, two crap teams, playing crap footy......

Port were just crappier then the Crows.

VB after the game was just

I'm sorry but I don't understand this. Where does it stipulate that all players must hate an outgoing coach?

Neil Craig provided 7 years service to the club and it's players, if the players want to acknowledge his contribution to their careers then so be it. To me it actually indicates a level of maturity, respect, and life perspective not normally associated with a pretty fickle football world.

Begs the question Ginge, if they respected him and his message so much ,why not bloody listen and carry out the instruction?

Or is Craig not the genuis/master coach that we have been told he is?

I'd be seriously pissed to hear players say "We did it for Booney" if they won the week after I was sacked because of their efforts.

Sure, they dont need to say they thought the bloke was a knob, but those sorts of comments are patronising IMO.

If the Crows lost yesterday, what would of he said then? It was just lucky you were playing the bottom team and not Collingwood or Geelong.....

Did I post anywhere about the players hating the coach?

Gingernuts wrote:To me it actually indicates a level of maturity, respect, and life perspective not normally associated with a pretty fickle football world.

So you thank your coach who's just walked because you the players put a performance(s) in that was so shitty that it made him leave despite him talking it up all year.

if he wanted to thank him, then the playing group should stand aside and tell the world it was their fault and take the blame instead of the coach wearing it.

That would show a level of maturity, respect & perspective.

The players have come out and said its their fault and not the coaches. Nowhere have i seen a player saying NC is to blame for the loosses, poor form, coach killer mistakes etc that have occured this year. The players are to blame for the majority of what has happend this year.

Piss poor effort by the players last weekend then. Perhaps they could have put their hand up and signalled to Trigg and Chapman that the blame needs to rest on their shoulders and not allow Craig to be the scape goat for these highly paid individuals.

They may have? you and I will never know, but in todays football the 'brand' is as important as winning premierships. Laidley, Craig, Bailey are all victims of the brand being damaged not only indifferent perfomances!

All I have seen the players do is acknowledge their part if Craigs downfall and express regret for it, which is all they can do. It's obvious that they have lost someone they respected and who in general seemed to have a positive impact on their football careers and their lives.

It is true that their words and actions are empty to a degree now Craig is gone, but I still don't see what is embarrassing about the whole situation. Just because the professional relationship between coach and player has failed, doesn't mean the personal relationship between all individuals involved also follows the same path.

I would much rather the current reaction than a flat denial from the playing group that they had any part in the events of the last week. To me it shows they care, and as a supporter that's all I ask for. It is a great pity it has taken the loss of their coach to make them realise it, but what's done is done and I hope that now they can focus on working towards a new and successful chapter at the club.

Players, like most people are too soft these days Booney. No one will accept any responsibility for their performance or actions. Not a Craig fan, but at least he had the balls to put his hand up and say "I'm done".

They have to say something Booney, might as well at least give it a positive slant to the media, - If they said anything otherwise the media would be all over it for days, so sometimes its better simply to give the scripted comment that they likely expect to hear anyway!

They were all more visible and "speccie" breaking into the clear, but VB did a lot of the hard work hidden in packs, and often does, and that gets overlooked.
