Talk on the national game

Was really impressed with Levi Greenwood's game yesterday ran very hard all day and put himself in some damaging positions.

Jack Ziebell was up and about also and looks to be getting back on track to realise his potential after his leg break.

Also good to see McIntosh get through for Werribee and by all reports looked pretty good.

Imagine having Goldstein and McIntosh changing up forward to help out Drew "The Dish" Petrie!! :D

Too top heavy. In the past the Roos have gone in top heavy and it's cost them dearly. You should only play McIntosh to keep his currency up as you rest Goldstein and then think about trading him perhaps.

Perhaps.....I don't watch North as closely as much as you blokes do but I've noticed in the past that when you went in with too many talls you tended to get rolled.

I agree I wouldnt be putting McIntosh in unless he demands to be picked. Goldy has gone miles past him IMO.

Agree McIntosh will not come back in as No.1 but The Dish gave Carlile a pasting on the weekend and then Trengove did himself no favours in his contract negotiations. By the end of the game Petrie was flying against 3 or 4 Port defenders having the resting ruckman down there to take those other players away from Petrie would be to our advantage IMO.

With Thomas and Boomer sniffing around for the crumbs I could see it being a formidable forward line.

All this of course is pending McIntosh getting back to his 2007 form.

Not only allowing Mcintosh and Goldstein to swap up forward to help Goldstein get through the year, but I think this would greatly benefit Edwards! I think he is ideally a third tall forward and he would be every chance to dominate most games against a third tall defender! I really rate Edwards and I reckon this may just help him as well

What do you mean? He'd been running up and down the ground across half back and then got moved onto an in form Petrie who kicked one goal on him and took two marks, one contested. Trengove did better than ok on Petrie IMO.

Keep in mind, full back is not Trengoves best spot.

By the time he was moved onto him Port were aware the guy is not going to be stopped one on one and had 3 or 4 jumping at the contest or laying blocks to stop him getting to the contest.

Just my opinion but Trengove did nothing to suggest he will be a superstar, which is the impression a lot of Power supporters are trying to give. He would want to play a lot better than that if he genuinely wants to drive up his value at Port or head to another club.

Sorry, I dont get what you're basing your opinion of Trengove on.

The fact we used him and Chaplin and Stewart/Lobbe to try and stop Petrie while Trengove was on him?

Just one game you've seen him play?

I'm not sure I rate him "super star" potential ( not sure I've even seen anyone else make that comment ) but I do see him as a very good player in the making. A mobile tall who at 20 years of age shows much promise.

I am basing my opinion on what I have seen of his play, which unfortunately due to the TV rights deal is more than I would like.

Obviously your opinion differs.

But what makes you think he won't be a superstar? He was good on Petrie after Petrie was dominating. You didn't exactly answer booneys question despite saying your opinion on what you have seen. What have you seen that you think what you do?

I reckon they can Sky Pilot. No one is getting the hard ball at St Kilda and North are really flying.

Oh well I had to submit the tips yesterday and I reluctantly went for StKilda because I reckon North has won five on the trot and must be about to lose one. Duhhhh! The science is mind-boggling

Well I'm actually two off the pace and second on the leader board at our local pub and with $500 hanging on it I want to try and be clever. Not picking Essendon every week has definitely helped let me tell you!

He has shown nothing to say he will be any more than a serviceable AFL footballer. Nic Nat has shown glimpses of talent that if he can turn on consistently then he will be a star. I have not seen him show any glimpses of this in the games I have seen.

As for him being good on Petrie as I stated previously he was moved onto Petrie at the time where The Dish was flying against 3 or 4 at each contest, while this is obviously good of Port to recognise he needed the help I would hardly say it was entirely Trengove that slowed Petrie.
