I'm definitely over it. Perth has gotten so much more violent in the years since I moved here. I remember going out clubbing in Adelaide and I'd probably seen two fights over the years. Last time I went to a certain club in Freo, there were four fights in the one night and they were just the ones I witnessed.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

that is truly awful.

Words wouldn't do justice, just too sad :(

X2

Its a very sad society we live in when a person cant go to a night club without the danger of not returning home.

Glad all my clubbing days are over, im just scared for my 2 daughters in 20 years time when they will want to go to town.

I was just talking to the missus about this and how much it scares me having two boys (and if they are anything like I was, my God ...).

I reckon in my 20's I rarely went out without seeing a blue (and I went out probably a lot more than I should have), but I never saw any serious injuries .. A few broken bones here and there and stiches, but never anything like these.

Are they becoming more frequent, or just receive more publicity than they used?

The mother of the South Adelaide player who died in these circumstances was speaking on the radio a while back about the Foundation she started.

She said, based on the research she had done, that these incidents weren't actually more frequent. It was the publicity they are attracting that has changed.

I don't know one way or the other. That's just what she said.

What a tragedy here :(

Thanks Hondo, I was legitimately interested.

Sorry too for going off topic folks, but this sort of stuff to me is senseless and I will never understand it .. It also scares the shit out of me when it comes to friends and family.

The young Swans player is still hanging on to life. I have a former Swans official, who is now at East Freo on my facebook page posting "RIP Luke Adams" as his status and when I asked him he confirmed it. Going by his position in the WAFL, I had no reason to doubt it.

Although he is clinging to life, it's being reported in the mainstream media that he's not expected to survive.
