Well beyond his prime.

And has Gaz covered well and truly at the moment. He does what ablett does, plus gets the hard ball! Doesn't just have it fed to him whenever he's within handpass or kicking distance.
Don't get me wrong. Ablett can play, can't doubt that for a second.
And with Goodes. It was pissing down last night! The blokes 6 foot 7 or whatever he is, good luck having an impact.
I'd be happy to have a guy that size who can play on the ball, ruck, forward and back in my side. Not too many blokes who can do that. Plus a brownlow winner! Can hardly over rate a guy like that surely!!

Hear me out. I'm sick of when the media & others talk about the best players in the competition & they sit there & say it's Ablett, Judd, Swan, etc.
The value & importance of having good key position players is greater then having the elite midfielders.
If all 17 teams were disolved tomorrow & a draft was held with all players being available I'd almost garuntee that (disregarding age & current fitness) Franklin, Goodes, Brown, Pavlich, Lake, Scarlett & Sandilands would be taken before the ultra elite midfielders.
Just my opinion!

At Geelong maybe, at gold coast no. He will retire a rich man who's career will never reach the heights it could of in a long term sense if he stayed in a successful side as Geelong is

Just sooked everytime he didn't get a free. I hope the media pick up on his actions and have a crack, they were always quick to point out Richo and Fev's dummy spits.

Names like S Black, Cooney, B Harvey shouldn't be considered that inferior either.

I rate him highly, but I was wondering why, with half of the eleven pages thus far having been dedicated to gun players rather than the threads intention of overrated players, why has no-one mentioned BLACK, BOOMER or COONEY, as they are just as good as GOODES.

What difference does the club make ? The guy is a serious gun !!
Bobby Skilton is still revered as one of the very best who ever put on a boot, even though throughout his career his side South Melbourne never played finals. And by the way, Skilton won multiple Brownlow Medals (I think it was three)
