The way I view it, I see "overrated" as a club that has been hyped up to achieve much more than they're capable of this year. Firstly....

Adelaide.

The media rates them much more highly than they're capable

St Kilda

On the slide.... big time.

Hawthorn

Currently haven't beaten anyone and yet I hear they are still second fave for the flag.

Port

See Adelaide.

An interstate club like Freo could go through undefeated, but not have the advantage of playing a home grand final, Collingwood could scrape into the finals, then make grand final and have home ground advantage. I've said it before, but the draw should be configured such that Collingwood doesnt play a game at the MCG in the last 3 rounds. I wish the AFL made their decisions based on fairness and not money.

Melbourne play 13 games and Richmond 12 at the MCG

So, none of them should play the last 3 games there?

When the media say they can make the top 6, and their lists are shizen, and realistically top 10 or 12 is best possible scenario, that for me is "overrated".

They have second favourites for the flag before the season starts, so I can't really see your logic there.

The media rate Port?????

Most over-hyped club this year is Hawthorn. And, Mark Robinson's (Herald Sun) obsession with Luke Hodge is sickening. He's a floater in the backline like Nick Maxwell FFS.

Adelaide, Every Interstate show and paper keeps saying how they are surprised Adelaide is struggling and some of the "experts" had them top 8 if not top 4, but I cant see list wise just as much as form wise where the players who were gonna get them top 4 are. They are rebuilding and are no where near a top 4 side, let alon a decent top 8 side, at best they will be a gap filler and go out round 1, IF they can even make it

Yep, Cornes reckons they're top 6 worthy, Rowey top 8... in fact most radio personalities (should I say 'experts') say they'll finish top 8.

See "most overrated player" for Luke Hodge. I completely agree. Those that rate him up there with Judd are kidding themselves.

Is this thread based on history or just this year?

If it's on history, then no way can Adelaide be mentioned. Since the AFL began, have won as many premierships as most clubs and are one of only 2 teams to have never finished in the bottom 3.

If it's just on this year, bit early to tell. Most people rubbish the media but now decide because the media said Adelaide will be a good side this year, it's ok to use them as a reliable source in this instance. Media schmedia.

Crows are definitely over-rated by SA media IMO. 2 Premierships in 20 years is reasonable and better than 10 other clubs, but don't forget they've also finished 11th or lower 7 times in that same period. The way Cornsey and his little puppet rave on you'd think they are world champions every year. It really is quite sickening to listen to the cr*p many crows supporters go on with about being premiership contenders when it's been over 12 years since their last GF appearance.
If you don’t like my words, don’t listen. If you don’t like my appearance, don’t look. If you don’t like my actions, turn your head; It’s as simple as that.

You can't "overrate" clubs in history because it speaks for itself. I believe it's 'future' whether that be this year, next year or three years....
