Bomber back to Essendon

Talk on the national game

This didn't come as a great shock to me, and although I'm a bit peeved about it, there's a simple fact that I understand, even as a Cat fan:

If a guy doesn't want to be at your club, so bad that he's looking elsewhere, then why would you want him to stay? His heart is obviously not in it...

Shouldnt be a shock, the only chance i thought a while ago was that Thompson might have been the coach with Hird as the assistant, same as with Buckley and Malthouse arrangement. It reminded me when the Crows appointed Neil Craig and i believe they had already made their decision whilst interviewing other people, and they kept denying this ,as Neil had the West Coast job earlier and then later turned that opportunity down.

How could anyone ever trust that bloke again?
He's definately lost any respect i had for him.
I hope they finish last in 2011.

It's unreal isn't it? Those who live by the sword will die by it.

People can bag Knights as much as they like but he had no hope with Hird undermining him.

We cant go any worse, only way is up unlike your mob that has been given such a handout with the draft from the afl and going nowhere.

You're kidding aren't ya. You can have him. By the way we were raped by the afl doing what other teams including yours did and thereby got some draft picks. Pay heaps for bomber and hird but they havent got any cattle to work with. Bring back peverill cos that scab is better than half your players. The only way is up? Gold coast will finish higher than you.

its great that bomber has fully recovered so quickly. Obviously he didnt realise how long it would take to recover from being burnt out and now he is going to be coaching fulltime again. I am sure its all innocent and above board ;)

Joke you may well, but dont be surprised if come mid-2010 Bomber is out of the gig again.

Sure, he might feel like he is "ready to go" again now, but that may only be a fleeting feeling.

This is a sad reflection of where the AFL is heading, wait to free agency really kicks in, this kind of stuff will be the standard.

Watch for players to announce where they are heading on 'the footy show' ala similar to Lebron James.

ESSENDON has ruled out making a shock bid for former Melbourne veteran Cameron Bruce in Tuesday's NAB AFL Pre-Season Draft, saying it will continue to pursue youth instead.

Senior coach James Hird said Bruce, who has nominated for both the pre-season and rookie drafts, did not fit in with Essendon's structure.

"Cam Bruce is a fantastic player, I've played against him personally and have a huge amount of respect for him but I don't think that's the direction we want to go, purely because of his age," Hird said

Looks like Bruce is gonna be a Bomber in 2011...
