Recon Danger was a westies player as well

Not in the same sense as the others mentioned .. Danger was given to Westies via the Mini-Draft.

Im starting to think the next Captain might need to be Thompson in an interim type role, with the hope that one of the younger lads has matured enough by 2012 or 13 to take on the role, hopefully on a longer term basis.

So was Tippett. Just pumping up our tires a bit. We need as much air as we can get at Westies!!!!!!!

I'd reckon van Berlo would be odds on to be the next captain after his game today as acting skipper.

So far he has been the best of the acting captains. The way he calmly went back and slotted that last one was excellent. He made a couple of howlers early in the game, but he more than made up for them.

I agree, his last quarter was great, I bow cant see who else would get the nod for the job. He did make a few skill errors during the game but that really sums up our season i feel. If you look back at our losses over the year, skill execution has cost us a place in the final, by skill i mean goal kicking, missing targets over use etc. I think making him captain may make him step up another level.

I think we should have dual captains, Rutten is clearly the best on field leader, VB may be the best off field....

I voted Scotty Thompson and i think he is a shoe in this year.

A great year from our hard midfielder.

He should take it for 2-3 years and when he finishes up Danger should hopefully have developed into a leader.

PATRICK Dangerfield says he respects Nathan Bock's decision to take up an offer with Gold Coast, but would have stayed with Adelaide if he were put in the same situation.

Dangerfield resisted the lure of returning home to Victoria by signing a two-year deal with the Crows earlier this season.

The 19-year-old said the introduction of the cashed-up Gold Coast and Greater Western Sydney clubs would test the loyalty of some players, but he had every intention of being a one-club player.

"It would have been a tough decision for Bocky, but at the same time I haven't been here very long and I'd like to see myself playing for only one club," Dangerfield said on Thursday.

Dangerfield said culture and his respect for Craig were two of the main reasons behind his decision to stay at West Lakes.

"I think the club culture we've got here is outstanding. Not knowing what a lot of other clubs are like … with that blokey-type environment - I don't think we've got that here," he said.

"It's a very professional environment … and I think we're building towards a premiership in the next couple of years, otherwise I wouldn't be here.

"A lot has been said about Neil Craig, but I think Neil is an outstanding coach and I can't imagine being coached by anyone other than him. He's been terrific for me in my development and he was a massive influence in me signing up.

"We've had a poor season on the field, but moving forward I think we can be a force to be reckoned with."

Looks like he's on the right path.

Geez i love this kid, and i hope he does stay as a one club player, he has the potential to be the greatest player the club has seen and even more influential than the great man that used to wear the number. Give the boy the keys to the city

Rutten after the game saturday night had the whole team in a group talking to them. Was he captain for night?

I recjib Big Truck shows great on field leadership, hardly plays a bad game and would demand respect as a captain. Would not be unhappy if the players chose him as the captain next year!!

He was the captain for the night last night. Could do a lot worse than him also. Glad I'm not making the decision! I guess it will most likely come down to the players themselves, they know who's the best person to lead them.

I think the Crows like a lot of other clubs have that Leadership model where the players vote each season for the leadership group of 5 or 6 and from there a Captain is voted from and taken to the board for approval.
