Designer Direct for me too, I reckon I'd almost make an exception to the rule of never hitting a woman if I saw her in the street.

Great topic.
One of the things that I love about being overseas is that I don't have to watch the disgusting ads that reputedly work purely on the basis that they are very annoying and get stuck in your head. (I think that there are stats that prove this). Before I left for Japan there was the stupid lounge ad where the guy screeches out "WHERE" about fifty times, at a volume way above where everything else is recorded at. I have vowed never to buy anything from anywhere that has an annoying ad, just to make the eggheads redo their research and treat the common consumer with a little more respect.
Just as a comparison, some Seppos came to Japan a few years back with an annoying ad campaign and flopped big time. The Japanese basically boycotted the product because the ads were so bad.

there will be side effects....

if I ever meet the person that wrote that ad there'll be side effects...

Metropolitan Plumbing - no question.

As for the Designer Direct lady, I went there once and she served me, really nice and helpful. When compared to that Metropolitan Plumbing ad, I'd rather see a movie consisting only of every Designer Direct ad - back to back.

And as for radio, Pagel Glass is in the Metropolitan Plumbing category. The only thing this repetitive bulls**t style of advertising achieves is me making a deliberate decision NOT to use a particular company.

You're right Sam. Are there any suckers in Adelaide who pay full retail for a rug? How is Barry Solomon still in business? He is obviously VERY BAD at ordering rugs as he is ALWAYS overstocked. And the "haggle guy" needs a bullet.

HOW MANY SLEEPS UNTIL FOOTY SEASON STARTS..........?????

I don't care how nice the Designer Direct lady is, she'd have to give me a damn good head job before I forgave her for the crap she puts on our TV screens.

You'd have to settle for a mediocre head job cos "everything is half price".
She might throw in a nice doona cover and a couple of pillows if you're lucky though.

i moved to townsville early last year and i thought I'd never have to see the likes of Mr Bankrupt, the haggle guy or Barry Solomon again, and then i see an ad on tv showing this convoy of semi trailers heading along a highway and in the front truck hanging out the window is Solomon saying that he's coming to our town to sell rugs. WTF?!?! Maybe he was just going to regional towns to open a rug store for one day before starting a 3-month closing down sale!

Anyway, my theory is that bad adelaide advertising is like the opposite of cane toads, i.e. a filthy pest that is slowly creeping north!
