Recently downloaded about 20 episodes of the Late Show and absolutely pissing myself laughing watching some of them tonight.
Highlights include Piffy the Bell Ringer, David Thai and Krista Krul on Pot Luck.
Rob Stich doing Desmond Tutu.
John Farnham singing the Sandhurst Machinery ad song.
Jason Stephens doing the "HANDS OFF!"
Shit Scared, Graham and the Colonel, Charlie the Wonderdog, Bargearse, Commercial Crimestoppers, it never ends.
People my age will know what Im talking about, funniest show ever on TV, used to keep me at home in my early 20s on a Saturday night.
I might put a few of the best skits on You Tube.

I've got the champaigne edition 3 CD set I put it on whenever I want a laugh, piss funny stuff and compulsory viewing for discussions on Monday morning at Uni in 1992-1993

Shitscared is funny (but similar to Leo Wankers stuff on the Paul Hogan show), Rob Sitchs impersonations - Imran Khan, YAssar Arafat, jeff kennet, Bishop Tutu, the Oz brothers, some of the album cover reviews they used to do in series one where hilarious, along with the mono-logues at the start of the show, Sirty the Slightly Aggressive bear, muckraking, the dinner party skits and not to forget Graham and the Colonel (I reckon their version of Vogue would be the best Footy revue skit - Paleface Adious we love you!!)

By far and away the funniest bit was in series 3 the end of the show Rock Stars being impersoanted by their "namesakes"

Crosby Stills Nash and Young = Al Grasby, Lucky grills, Nudge (from Hey Dad) and Gwen Plumb
Joan Jett = Joan Kirner
Graham Drury = Bryan Drury

and others that I can't quite remember of get the names right...

Without doubt the funniest show in Australain TV history

That's gold Wedgie!

I call it high art!

Where did you dl the eps from? I'll have to try and dl them myself.

That'll be a pot of gold for me ;)

Also - if you want more, I remember Punky saying he had a mate with the complete episodes on video tape. Might be worth speaking to him.

yeah, my mate has them all (authored) on DVD.

One of the funniest moments for me was-
Rob Sitch as Archbishop Tutu- the opening shot which has a close up of Rob grinning wildly
Warren Perso (my previous signature, which was "Sturt was good, but it was no Stzrelecki..." was a direct Perso quote) & "Ron's Barny", which satirised "Don's Party"

I actually went to a (live) taping of the show, was the day that it was announced that Sid-er-knee had won the Olympics.

Everythime they mentioned Olympics we all had to jump out of our seats and yell and scream, throw whistles etc.

During Graham and the Colonel (Dufflecoat supreme) the other people on the show are just off camera, trying to put them off.

Bloody, bloody funny show. (And so is the Chaser, which is on next Wedesday week on ABC)

It was alright the first time around but doesn't hold up to repeated views IMO.
As for being the greatest Australian comedy ever.....umm.....No!

Pretty certain it's not hte best Aussie comedy ever - but it's my fave.
And I think it's still worth a watch - I know it probably doesn't stand up, but what skit show which satirises public life and pop culture does 10 years after it's screened?

I love The Chaser too and I can see those boys taking off to similar success as those involved with The Late Show.

This country's stuffed. But it's the greatest country in the world!

John Howard in his tracky dacks celebrating the Socceroos victory over Japan during
the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals would have to be the Greatest piece of Aussie comedy of ALL time!

Either that, or his attempting a delivery on a Pakistani cricket pitch!

Im just watching one of the episodes I downloaded and its actually that episode Borat, should I look for you in the crowd?
It started with Mick Molloy and Judith Lucy opening the show with Rob Stich in the crowds.

Also, just on the chaser, loved the show the other night, didn't catch much if any of Series 1 but have also downloaded that and am looking forward to perusing them.
