Eddie wuz robbed!

Well, not really - Alan Arkin is a deserving winner.

Glad that 'Little Miss Sunshine' won Best Original Screenplay.

How 'The Departed' got Best Pic is beyond me.

Even more puzzling, 'An Inconvenient Truth' winning Best Doco. It's a glorified lecture!

Finally, Scorsese is acknowledged by the Academy.

That one was long overdue...

Proud to say I saw zero movies in the last 12 months, haven't heard of 90% of the actors, actoress', or movies mentioned.

I always thought Gavin Wanganeen and Matthew Lloyd were very unlucky not to win an oscar or two.

Nah, they are bad at acting so they'd be no chance. Unless umpires were voting on the Oscars of course

Have not taken these awards seriously since Denzel Washington received "best actor" for Training Day.

I understand what you are saying but I would have said when Helen Hunt got an oscar for playing "Helen Hunt" in "As good as it gets".

That's it. There's certainly a few examples.
I do like Washington as an actor but he should have got the nod for previous efforts, not just because it was "his turn" or because Hollywood's decided to do a PR selection.

I like Denzel as an actor - although that was no-where near a winning performance.
From memory - he was up against Russell Crowe's performance in A Beautiful Life ?
Not a huge can of R.C. but he really should have won that.

BUT, looked nice for the Academy having an "All Black" best actor/actress.
