Only saw the movie "RAY" for the first time about a month ago and I felt that it was a great movie with a great job done by Jamie Foxx playing Ray Charles.
Was interested to find out that the movie was actually made independently, which would explain why things regarding Charles' life weren't glossed over.
What do others think of this movie and others relating to the title of this topic?

Does "The Rose" fall into this category?

Saw both "Ray" and "Walk the Line" and thought they were really well done. Particularly the way they dealt with some of the uglier sides of these guys careers. Most bio pics on artists don't do this and just end up being PR fluff pieces.

Sid & Nancy (Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen)

What's Love Got to Do With It? (Tina Turner)

The Jacksons (TV mini-series)

Bird (Charlie Parker)

Krush Groove (Run DMC, very loosely based on their rise to fame)

Apparently a new Diana Ross biopic starring Beyonce is coming out. Diva Ross has ripped into Beyonce in the media.

Watched the movie La Bamba for the first time in a long time recently and enjoyed it and probably understood it a bit better this time around after having read the book "The day the music died".
Hard to imagine that Buddy Holly was only 22 as even today if you said his name most people would know he was.
As I'm sure most people know, the song "American Pie" by Don McLean is actually about the deaths of Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly and J.P. Richardson.

Hanging out (pardon the pun) for 'Control', the movie about Ian Curtis & Joy Division directed by Anton Corbijn. Out in March in the UK.
Should be a nice companion to '24 Hour Party People'.

There were a few shorts with dialogue, but THE JAZZ SINGER is the first feature 'talkie.'

The immortal first line:

"Wait a minute, wait a minute, you ain't heard nothin' yet."

Micheal Vaughan - Second test Ashes series. Lost the toss and sent in on a road when Ausrtralia had just lost Glen McGrath. Oops, wrong board!

I recently enjoyed Beyond the Sea, Kevin Spacey's biopic of Bobby Darin. It has a great look and feel, and who knew Spacey could sing?
