The Simpsons is set to open its 26th season with the death a of a long-time popular character.

The series' showrunner Al Jean said the opening episode had turned out bigger than expected - but it would not include a 'bloodbath' of character elimination. 'It turned out bigger than we thought it was going to be,' he told The Hollywood Reporter.

'It's not going to be this blood bath where they all get murdered.'Mr Jean gave clues to add to speculation about who the character could be.

He said the voice actor had previously won an Emmy role. -

Has any of the voice actors asked for a pay rise lately? That person's character could be the target.

Didn't the lady who voiced Edna K die recently? Maybe one of the characters she voiced was too difficult to find a replacement for

yes. Marcia Karen Wallace (November 1, 1942 – October 25, 2013) Wallace died from pneumonia and sepsis on October 25, 2013, aged 70, a week before her 71st birthday. Breast cancer was also listed as a significant condition on her death certificate.
