Has anyone seen 'The Wire'? I got on it about a month ago and just finished it. Very well made tv show which ran from 2002-2008 about the drug problem in Baltimore, and corruption within the police department and government.
I definitely recommend it. Will require concentration though.

I'm working my way through it now.
I used to watch it on SBS but the hours didn't suit for consistent watching.
It's a great program, well made with characters who make you want more.
We're only into series two.

I think dvd/hdd is the best way to watch this series. I think I'd forget some things if I watched a season over 12 weeks...
Keep me updated with what you think of it, I dont know anyone else who has seen it haha.

One of my favourite shows ever. There was heaps of discussion about it on here a few years ago and that was enough for me to go and buy the DVD's.

JK, as I'm still in series two, I often see Bubbles' mate Johnny Weeks and think he looks like Kieran McGuiness. Am I kidding meself?

How did you like the end JK? I just watched it last night. Realistic, but left me feeling a bit unsatisfied. Probably what they were aiming for. I would rather not have seen the death in episode 508 too! Probably as annoyed as I've been about the death of a character. But again, realistic. Would've been good to see what McNulty went on to.
As much as I hate Clay Davis, I actually enjoyed him coming onto the screen toward the end of the series, even if it was just to hear him say 'sheeeit' haha.
Was disappointed in Carcetti. Had so much potential but was too interested in pursuing his own interests.
Even McNulty, sorta felt a bit out of character in the last season.

Incomparable. The greatest show ever made. In a class of its own.
Other than that, it's alright...

I reckon Breaking Bad is slightly ahead for me, but it is definitely up there!
I think it will be a good show to watch again, knowing how everything pans out.

The Shield is another good one to get onto, although 7 seasons long

I was only 12 years old when it first came out mate. I might have to give The Shield a crack then. The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire are also on the agenda.

No worries lutz, just stirring. Some quality viewing with those 3 shows.
Would also recommend:
Ray Donovan
Deadwood
Hell On Wheels
Suits
Friday Night Lights

Actually I just remembered I didn't get that far lol.
I was so disappointed it was winding up, that when I got to the season 5 DVD I put it away, so that I had something to look forward to (ie, drag the series out a bit longer). Lol that was about 5 years ago so I probably better dig it up and get back on it.

Only just started watching this, after breaking bad finished I thought I better go watch the other show most commonly put up there as the greatest show ever. Only 3 eps into the first season but I am enjoying it. Hard to watch a show that isn't in widescreen though haha

I read people talking about this a year or two ago and was going to look into it. Ive read the Wikipedia page, and it sounds like my sort of thing. More of an intellectual cop drama, instead of the same old shit on TV.
I have Generation Kill on DVD, which is made by David Simon as well. Its a really well made series about the start of the Iraq invasion.

That's pretty much exactly what I did haha, watched the last two seasons over the long weekend
haha yea was a bit weird going back to the square picture, got used to it though.

just finished season 4, and i have to say i think this might be better than breaking bad, i think it might be the best tv show ever. i just love how they portray all of the characters as complex.
i almost cried when i saw prezbo see dukwan (sp?) out on the corner and randy getting beaten up in the group home. same with bubbles. the whole series was so depressing, but in a good way. honestly made me think how lucky we have it in aus.
i have read that the last season is about the media, will be interesting
