What's the funniest thing anyone has ever heard on this show?
I rarely listen but the guys been around for 49 years so everybody has heard him at one time or another and sometimes there are some funny moments.
One of the funnier ones I recall was the plot hatched (by god only knows who) for people to ring up and make sure they included the phrase "peanut butter sandwiches" in their discussion.
Francis got sooooo pissed off and it was priceless to hear this go on for night after night!

I used to listen when I was in Adelaide, never rang up though.
These days can they see the number you are calling from?

One of my old neighbours was a regual caller at one stage.
She'd get pi$$ed, ring up Bob and go on a rant.
Must admit, I've got a few chuckles from Bob.
But many more to Zemanek - used to have to listen to him for work.
However Stan cheated by paying actors to pose as callers, usually as left-wing loonies, uni students or dole bludgers.
But there was one memorable character - a hooker - who would get into live on-air arguments with a conservative granny. Of course, they were the same actor.
Could be very funny though.

A friend and I used to call years ago. Our schtick was posing as drunken bogans (actually, not posing) who wrote poetry.
I still recall one we did for mothers day.
I love you mum
You're number one
You're heaps good fun
And I'm your Son.
You make my day
In every way
Your hair is grey
And you go for the Bays.
Beautiful innit?

A mate of mine (this would be the early 90's we are talking about here) use to ring him when he was doing night shift at his work and bait the hell out of him. He say things like "Me and me mates like listening to you Bob 'cos we don't have much to do at the moment 'cos we ain't working and that, and you are good and that even when we get stoned you kinda make sense to us." ...........and off he'd go.
Then my mate would ring back a couple of weeks and say he'd turned his life around because of what Bob had said to him, but then lost his new job 'cos he was stoned at work.....and off he'd go again
Funny stuff.
By the way did you know Bob Francis is apparently responsible for bringing The Beatles to Adelaide?? I think I heard that once or twice or a thousand times.

A mate of mine rang up occassionally with a few classics -
"I have a Guard dog that is retiring, a rottweiler/American Pit Bull cross, give away to a good home. Would really benefit in his last few years from being surrounded by loving children."
Or,
"I've got a corner store Bob and I'm sick and tired of having to open it at 7am every morning. The government should change our opening hours."
OR
"Bring back the death penalty for people who get caught speeding three times".

Wasn't it Bread and Butter Sandwiches? A group of people from my school were responsible for that one!

You might be right. Can you shed any more light on this prank MW? How was it hatched, how long did it take for him to cotton on to it and how long did it continue for?

Must admit that I didn't mind listening to it.
Laughed myself stupid one night about 5 years ago when a bloke rang in and said "that his old mates Ron Jeremy and Peter North who used to go to the gym with you say g'day".
Now I'm sure there's a few of us out there who know who those two are

but Bob had no idea that this guy was pulling his leg. He had Bob genuinely beleiving that he used to go the gym with two blokes that had these names.
