So far, quite thought provoking.

Agreed. Good show. The stories of the middle eastern men and the African family certainly gave me an appreciation for just how desperate they are.
The next program looks good...

Curious, haven't heard of it. What's it about?
Edit: Thanks, posted as I did.

Great start, it concludes over the next two nights which look even better.
amazes me how some of us think, so wrapped up in our convenient little worlds, with NFI about what really goes on out there.
That racist western sydney girl is in for a big shock.
the boat stunt was a goodie.

I was sorta hoping they'd chuck her overboard on that boat. Whiny little brat.

How funny was it when that old bird from Adelaide told her to "shut the **** up"

They're in Malaysia now looking at life at what's basically a transit stop...

She is a whining brat but, in fairness, if all she has known is her cushy Australian life with no need to even work for a living it would be a huge culture shock for her. She's only young. I know from experience when I visited Nepal sooner or later you have to use those drop toilets and once you do it once the seal is broken! I refer to tonight's episode where she refused to use the toilet.
It will be interesting to see if she changes her views on refugees after this experience or whether just dealing with the experience of living overseas in 3rd world conditions will take up all her mental energy. She's thinking mostly about how hard the experience is for her, rather than how hard it is for the refugees. I think a lot of people her age would react the same way.

I agree Hondo, as much as I don’t condone her thinking, it’s very simple thinking at best. She is unemployed, left school at 14 and lives in the outer western suburbs of Sydney, let’s hope she is educated by all of this in the end.
She believes those illegal workers needed to be arrested and dealt with harshly, however when she is asked what is their alternative she shrugs and says well that’s not my problem. In the same way I think racism is a very simple philosophy, and usually comes from lower socio economic areas and the uneducated. **** However, I’m not saying there aren’t racists in different groups of Australians ****
Her opinions would have been passed through from her family etc etc.
The funny thing is that this show needs to be viewed by these kinds of people and unfortunately they are the last people who would be watching it. They may have to play it on prime time commercial to reach the people that should see the series.

They repeated the first episode last night. A good show, the young chick from Sydney needs a good slap.

Missed the end of last night's ep as it went overtime and my iQ cut it off!
Last night's IMO was the best of the three. Even the whiny brat started to come round, though she chose to go home rather than visit Congo.
Looks like there's a reunion show on Tuesday night as well.

I missed the first 20 minutes of each show so I was really surprised to find out last night how anti-refugees the older lady was at the start.
She came across to me like a left wing humanitarian from what I had seen so she has come a long way.
I wasn't completely convinced that the teenage girl had turned at the end and I questioned whether she was speaking knowing that Australia would be watching and judging her. She did seem genuine when she said goodbye at the African camp. Maybe the reunion show will tell us more.

The three episodes are available on the SBS website, along with some deleted scenes.
