POPULAR ABC music quiz show Spicks and Specks is ending after seven years.

Stars Adam Hills, Myf Warhurst and Alan Brough have told the ABC this will be the last season.

"I have loved every second of my involvement with Spicks and Specks, and especially working with Alan and Myf," Hills told the ABC.

"We always said we wanted to leave when we were on top and while we were still having fun, and now feels like the right time.

"We are indebted to our loyal fans for giving us seven amazing years on Australian television, and I hope they'll hold the memories of Spicks and Specks close to their hearts."

The ABC reports Spicks and Specks attracted an average weekly audience of 1.35 million viewers last year, and has been among ABC1's top 10 programs, based on series averages, each year from 2006-2010.

It has also won industry praise, being awarded the AFI award for best light entertainment series in 2009, and this year's silver Logie for most outstanding light entertainment program.

This year, Adam Hills was nominated for a Gold Logie and launched new variety program Adam Hills in Gordon Street Tonight.

Thank god for that ! I hope it's the last we see of adam hills too !

I dont watch that much TV but this one show I never miss....

Bugger. Do enjoy this show, and have been loving the repeats on ABC2.

I agree with their reasoning though, too many shows these days overstay their welcome and get stale, ruining the early good work.

Can't say I'm a fan, but know a lot of people who do like it.

Not a huge fan of Hills, but enjoy a lot of the international comedians that are on from time to time.

One of the only shows that I make sure NEVER to miss each week .

Really, really disappointing news. Good they are going out on a high, but still....Wednesday nights won't be the same without that.

Clearly CK is a bit miffed about this decision....

Agree with CK- about the only Aussie show I watch regularly.
