I read a review in the paper on the weekend, sounds gruesome, but all the same I'm curious about the case so may watch it some time.

I worked with a lady in the office next to mine in my previous employment, who's housemate was one of the people murdered. She was also on the school council with Wegener. I tell you what, I have never been so fascinated and gobsmacked at the same time then I was the day she told me all about it.

I also vaguely knew one of the victims (who would occasionally come into my former workplace).
I've also followed the case with interest in the media, although then again I follow most cases like this - eg "Family" murders, any media coverage of serial killings etc.

Likewise have followed the case with interest and will most likely watch the film. I can understand the families position, a movie involving a family members death would be a hard pill to swallow.

I taught Bunting's kid for a brief period. Didn't know it at the time of course but since finding out a few things began to make sense. The tiser article said there were scenes showing him as a 'family man' and I think I would find those pretty hard to watch.

Families aren't happy. But somebody was going to do something about this eventually. Always gonna be controversial.
Similarly, a telemovie based on Bob O'Brien's Young Blood book about 'The Family' murders fell over at the eleventh hour a few years back.
And there's been some producers running around trying to get a film up about Martin Bryant for years. Dunno if that one will ever happen? Same thing with the Milperra Massacre.
Trailer looked pretty damn good. Very tense, a la The Boys...

Any news on when this will be released?
I loved wolf creek and can see this being similar.
I understand there would be considerable difficulty experienced by family/friends, however if depicted properly and based on facts i cant see any problem with it being produced.

That would be good to see, but it would depend on which version of events the movie producers take. I read Ceasear Campbells autobiography and reading that you would think that the Bandido's are all angels and the massacre was caused through absolutely no fault of their own.

That's what I thought. Definately peaked my interest. My GF at the time lived on the farm next to where the barrels were stored for a while.
Seems fair enough considering the place was just a storage point for the bodies. Snowtown was definately unlucky to cop a bad wrap.

I would definitely like to see it:
One of the victims lived near me in Elizabeth Downs, was married in the Church on my road. The yard of the house behind me was dug up for evidence. I used to walk to my grandparent's place past the houses on Waterloo Corner which were demolished. And...the father of a friend of mine was the last bank manager of the Snowtown bank in which the barrels were found. He lived in the house adjoining the bank.
It will be very eerie watching the movie bearing that stuff in mind. I can imagine how tough it would be for family.

They could make a "Snowtown series" like Underbelly. It would be a killer serial.

My father worked on the case, so I might take him to see it and then find out how much they got right and how much the missed or "glamourised" for the movie? I remember reading that there were still supression orders in place that prevented them finding out more detail that they wanted to make the movie.. even little things, like the colour of the barrels used.
