A number of reports stating that the star of the Naked Gun series has passed away from compllications from pneumonia, aged 84:

Very sad news . There had been reports that there would be a fourth movie made in the series in the near future.

such a shame to lose another funny man. I loved the naked gun series.
I just saw this pic and started laughing

It's always sad when someone who has made you laugh passes away.
Didn't realise that he was that old.

not just a great comedic actor, he was a good actor in general, he was great in the cult classic 'sci fi' film 'forbidden planet'

Leslie Neilson was almost unrecognisable without the white hair we've all become used to...
