Download this!

I wanted to start a thread on what TV shows from around the world are worthy of downloading. I have discovered a few that I have downloaded full series' of and would like to hear what others reccommend. Its always good to discover shows that noone has ever heard of.

As well as Survivor and The Amazing race here are some that I download that others may want to look into:

1. Rubicon - an American television series that centers around an intelligence analyst at a national think tank in New York City called the American Policy Institute (API) who discovers that he may be working with members of a secret society that manipulates world events on a grand scale. Think "Conspiracy Theories, mixed with "The Number 23" Stars the main guy out of The Pacific
2. The Colony - A post apocolyptic "Survivor" series where participants in the experiment are left to reestablish some kind of society in an industrial wasteland. They are required to generate electricity, purify water, scavenge for tools and luxuries to ensure they are comfortable and can provide for themselves. Marauders and other survivors attack the group randomly to steal food, supplies etc. Think Survivor mixed with Scrapheap Challenge mixed with gang warfare.
3. Sons of Anarchy - Someone discussed it in this thread and I jumped on it, now I'm addicted. Delves into the subculture of an outlaw motorcycle gang, modelled on the Hells Angels. Looks into the relationships and the business that goes on behind the scenes.

Have just started on Boardwalk Empire, The Big C and Lost Girl
With that... a slight deflection to the next topic!

I'm currently watching Ricky Gervais' new series 'An Idiot Abroad' - its 'stars' Karl Pilkington who, if you've ever listened to their podcasts, is (purported to be) a clueless buffoon who doesn't like stepping outside his door, let alone travel to some of the most confronting destinations overseas, which of course he does - with Ricky and Stephen Merchant giving him cr*p all the way. Very funny.

Just watched episode one of the Walking Dead - a new 6 part zombies series from the US, based on an apparently popular graphic novel (ok, comic) of the same name.

Absolutely wonderful if you're into zombie stuff. Brutal too, not dumbed down for TV, but still enough of a sympathetic story that Mrs ZZ enjoyed it and she's certainly no fan of the genre (It probably helped that the lead is a British guy from Teachers and This Life). There you go, undead action the whole family can enjoy!

Don't read this if you don't want spoilers but it will give you a good idea what to expect:

Isn't purported to be, he IS.

I've listened to EVERY Gervais podcast and EVERY XFM radio show from the early 2000s.

And An Idiot Abroad is brilliant!
I love 'Food and Stuff'. It's where I buy all of my food. And most of my stuff.

Again, this is brilliant.
I don't like zombies (IMO just lazy, slow, vampires) but this is so brilliantly shot.
Watched the first three, can't wait for more.

Recently finished watching the 1st (and only) season.
Another "one season wonder" that was quality, but failed to gather a decent sized audience.
Too low key (had more of a British style) for US audiences I think.

And unlike every other travel show it completely turns you off visiting any of those places. After seeing the swirling winds of litter and soiled nappies at the feet of the (empty) pyramids in Egypt I don't think I will be attending ta very much

You should also check out The Ricky Gervais Show (which is more like the Karl Pilkington Show).
