The X Factor

5 Years after it failed specatularly on Channel 10, 7 for some reason have revived The X Factor. While the show has had success overseas, it was one of the biggest flops of the 2000's in Australia.

The show has already had a change of host with Matthew Newton being replaced by Luke Jacobz (or Angelo for the Home and Away fans).

Will it work second time around? I can't see it being the rating juggernaut 7 are hoping it is to be honest - similar shows have flopped recently, with the exception of Australia's Got Talent (but even that took Susan Boyle for anyone to notice the show even existed in Australia).

I guess the difference this time round is we haven't been slaughtered with reality tv shows at the moment.
Jnr Masterchef is starting soon, but other than that there isn't much on. No biggest Loser, no Big Brother, Idol isn't on yet, AGT finished a few months ago, DWTS is over now. B&TG has only just started filming and won't be on air for a few more months.

Timing wise I think they have done a lot better this time round, it might go ok.

Does as the name suggests. Automatically tunes the voice to the correct note. Notice her high notes aren't very crisp, there is a subtle warble - that's the auto-tuner kicking in.

Because she can't actually sing.

Simon Cowell's a clever bastard isn't he?

Comes up with Pop Idol, a glitzier, glammier version of the ol' talent show - remember Solid Gold and New Faces anyone?? I don't but I've read about it them!
Sells it overseas. Makes a motzer as creator and judge.
And then thinks to himself "hmmmm, I'm obviously not making enough money, I need to come up with another show".
Creatively, he comes up with X Factor, a glitzier, glammier version of the ol' talent show - remember Solid Gold and New Faces anyone?? I don't but I've read about it them!
Sells it overseas. Makes a motzer as creator and judge.
And, oh sorry, am I repeating myself?
Creative genius is Simon Cowell.

Fing joke. X Factor gefugged off my screen.

Isn't Britain's got Talent (again sold all over the world) another one of Cowell's ideas?

Not bad for someone who only lasted 2 nights on the English version of Sale of the Century in the early '90's...

...dumbed down, braindead tv deluding people into thinking they actually have control over others lives and futures...what a con...and he knows the masses who love him will phone in and vote and...kerching....his bank balance grows...and as for those that hate him he tries to get them so angry that they'll try to punish him by voting in favour of the acts he says he doesn't like....and....kerching...his bank balance grows again. They're his shows so every phone vote lines his pockets...he doesn't give a toss who the audience votes for as long as they phone. He's laughing all the way to the bank.

Anyone actually watching the X Factor? I think its perfect timing for it to come back on. No Idol for an idefinite period, not many reality shows on at present, and they got some good judges IMO.

Some good talent in there, but some shockers in the top12.

Anyone watched any of the UK auditions on youtube? If interested, have a look at a girl called Cher who sings a song by Swagger (IIRC) by Soldier Boy but the Kerri Hilson version, and also the bloke that does Sex on Fire. Pretty good first up auditions!
