i have to admit i like watching on foxtel the crime tv stations (not the hollywood shows) & seeing how the cops piece together what happens & how they catch the culprits even with the 'cold case files', now as i said it is very interesting & intriguing, however is it a worry that criminals will also watch & know a bit more on what they shouldn't do & avoid getting caught ?

I feel like yelling out "sucked in you creep- thought you'd got away with it didn't ya?"

I don't mind that show on Foxtel, where that guy, i think he's sitting behind a desk, narrates those American true crime stories.

I liked the UK "cold case" show New Tricks.

CI Channel rocks. The First 48, Cops, Street Patrol, America Exposed - Uncut. There are some great shows on there. First 48 is my favourite though. I love that sort of stuff.

Domonick Dunne (sadly passed away at the end of last year aged mid 80's) Great combover too.

I prefer the police fly-on-the-wall type shows like The Force, Highway Patrol, Motorway Patrol and Police Ten 7 (the last two are a great laugh at New Zealand's expense )

did anyone watch the 'girl in the box' episode last night....colleen stan was her name, she was brainwashed & signed an agreement to be a sex slave & forced to do sexual favours, she even spent a day with her real family & she was that scared she didn't ask for help, periodically she had jobs & still never asked for help & brought home the money for the husband & wife team that kidnapped her.....did anyone see it ? i just don't understand why you wouldn't cry for help when the opportunity arose

i watched 'to catch a predator' the other night, while the idea is obviously right to get them off the streets i'm not so sure it is morally right to set a trap to do it


it is a joint police & nbcdateline

they get professional people online pretending to be 12 or 13 year old girls who are online are permiscuious young girls & flirt sexually to these men & hence suck them in by saying her parents are away & to come over, the would be girl is an actress around 18 years old & tells the men to grab a drink & to slip in to a 'hot tub' while she goes to get into her bathers....as she dissapears the dateline anchorman comes out asks them questions & tells them they can leave when they want, they walk outside & get 'ambushed' by the police questioned & charged

at the end of the segment they tell you that they've gone to another city to do the same & in the footage one of the blokes (who looked a few bob short anyway) was caught for the second time

as i said i think it's great to get these peadophiles off the street but is it morally wrong to trap them like this ? as i said i'm not totally sure but i think about 90% in favour of them doing this....your thoughs guys

i personally agree, catch them anyway possible.

but the case for the defence (specially if there is no proof of previous unsavoury acts in this manner) would be that, if the oppurtunity (that these professionals are presenting) indeed wasn't presented to the defendant, then instead of going to tamper with a "13 year old girl", he probably would have gone around to a mate's place to have a beer and watch a movie, and the fact that the oppurtunity presented itself was the only reason he done it.

been thinking about this & if god forbid something happened to littlebayman & they knew a predator was lurking around but couldn't do anything until a crime had been committed i'd be very very angry that something wasn't done in the first place, so i think this type of a trap is good for society & perhaps we should do these traps here, save the kids first should be the motto
