Famous Entertainment Feuds

Postby CK » Sun Jan 17, 2010 5:02 pm

Was reading recently about how the cast of ALF, and in particular, Max Wright (Wi*lie Tanner) did not enjoy making the show, in terms of the technical side of it, and that Wright ardently disliked having to hand over the best comedy to, his words, "an inanimate object". The cast were largely not happy through much of the show, by many reports.

Made me think about other TV shows where pivotal cast members did not get along at all, but had to maintain a positive on-screen presence. George Lopez has had frequent disagreements over the years on his various productions; Jane Wyman and Lana Turner's scenes in "Falcon Crest" had to be screened separately and then spliced together because they would not speak to each other; an on-screen couple on Skyways simply did not like each other at all, but had to play married for months; many, many others along the way, and curious to know of others?
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...

Daniel Radcliffe and Ralph Fiennes apparently took a dislike to each other on the Harry Potter sets. Radcliffe was quoted as saying 'I just pretend he's not there.'

Interesting topic CK :)

I hadn't heard about the issue on the set of ALF before, i wonder if the show would have lasted longer if it wasn't for these issues.

I can't think of too many examples myself, although i would think the sets of I DREAM OF JEANNIE and DALLAS would have been a little tension filled given the reputation of Larry Hagman for being difficult to get along with.

I alluded to something on the Neighbours thread about Nicky Whelan. I heard when she left the show that the rest of the party threw a party. Shane Connor who's contract was terminated a few years ago had issues with the Producers as well as a few cast members i think.

Not tv, but didn't the Oasis' Gallagher brothers perform for years without barely speaking to each other?

I heard that the lady who played Thelma in Kingswood Country left because of some dispute, it was very apparent when they appeared on 'Where are they now' a few years ago shes was very uncomfortable.

Also read that the cast of A Country Practise had a dislike towards the guy who played Frank Gilroy.

Robert Hughes from Hey Dad left and the show didn't last much longer, when that cast was on Where are the Now, he wasn't on at all. Hey Dad was made by the same people as Kingswood Country. Maybe Gary Reilly is the problem?

Remember reading years ago the 2 cops from Chips, Erik Estrada and 'the other one' never liked each other either.

This is not a feud in the true sense i guess, but I've heard the story relating to Diff'rent Strokes, where the father (Conrad Bain) invites his on screen kids over for a meal, and Todd Bridges (Willis) assaults and robs him. I think it was after the series had finished and Bridges had gotten completely off the rails.

I guess it just proves that proverb that what might be right for you, may not be right for some eh?

Hardly surprising...as if a Jewish born son of god, an Greek orthodox bishop and a German fertility symbol aren't going to kick off at some point  ;)

Joey and Johnny Ramone barely spoke two words to each other for 20 years despite being in the same band (The Ramones).

Thats cause Joey thought Johnny stole "his girl" when in reality Joey was pretty much an obsessed stalker.

Tupac v Biggie
Poster boys in the ridiculous mid-90s East v West hip-hop war. Soon became a war between their respective record labels 'Death Row' and 'Bad Boy'. Both were murdered.

Joan Crawford v Bette Davis
"The best time I ever had with Joan in a film was when I pushed her down the stairs in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" - Bette Davis.

"Miss Davis was always partial to covering up her face in motion pictures. She called it 'Art.' Others might call it camouflage- a cover-up for the absence of any real beauty. " - Joan Crawford.

Robert Reed v Sherwood Schwartz
Mr. Brady thought the show was beneath him. He was notorious for sending the producers long, detailed, highly-critical memos about how to improve it. They obviously binned them.

Shannon Doherty v Everyone

Few know how to sabotage a career like she does. Starred in two big network hits. Sacked from both. Pretty much p!$$ed off everyone she's ever worked with. Everybody hates Shannon.

Several telemovies dig the off-camera dirt on popular TV shows, including...

Diff'rent Strokes
The Partridge Family
Gilligan's Island
Three's Company
Mork & Mindy
Dynasty
Charlie's Angels
Everyone can eat s#!t! A big bag of s#!t! I'm the greatest man in the world!
