Horror Movies

Do we have any fans out there?

I've never really been into them, although recently I've started to watch a few here and there if they pop up on Foxtel, and so started reading up on a few via http://www.imdb.com.

On one of the Forums there they provide a link (http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-1550 ... the-Decade) which lists this decades Top 10 Horror Fillums (some in the list seemed out of place to me, but hey Im no expert).

The list is as follows:

I've only seen 1 and 3, and im staggered they've made the list (despite being enjoyable enjoyable movies).

Are you into them? Whats the best Horror flick you've seen and why?

Am definitely not a fan of horror movies,
Saw Return of the Living Dead when I was 15 - put me off for life!

However....

If number 9 is 'The Others' as in Nicole Kidman the others,
Then I did see that, and liked it.... I'm surprised that it's classed as horror though.

Give me comedy any day

I've seen 1,3 and 9...The Others...horror???? it's slightly spooky but no way would I have classed it as a horror film.

I'm not into the slasher type films...but I did like Event Horizon and Cube (god knows why, watched most of it from behind a cushion )...do they count as horror?

I love the oldies...can't beat Vincent Price in the old Hammer films...The Raven would be my fav don't suppose they would be classed as horror by current standards though.

Love horror movies - Texas Chainsaw, Nightmare on Elm Street - all of that sort of stuff.

Although, I wasn't a fan of Mamma Mia.
The soundtrack was a bit scary, as were some of the dancing scenes (I've not seen that in too many horror films before) and I think it took a few liberties with the horror genre.

there was a film i saw years & years ago about kids living under a house, inbetween the walls etc etc, i think it was titled 'the people under the stairs' (or similar) the first time i saw it, it had moments throughout the film yet the 2nd time it seemed tame

Loved horror movies as a kid, especially Christopher Lee as Dracula in the Hammer series.

Also a fan of the old 30s and 40s Universal horror movies.

Still love a good vampire flick.

Set in the Australian outback, it's got werewolf priests, breakdancing and some of the best bad dialogue ever written...

Priest: You should not run away from home.
Jerboa: I don't like home.
Priest: Why, child?
Jerboa: Because my stepfather tried to rape me and he's a werewolf.

Just can't understand why you would pay $16.00 to have the bejesus scared out of you.

Remember catching a glimpse of Freddy Kruger on the box one night when I was a kid and that lived with me of 12 months I reckon!

For those horror enthuisasts out there, according to a few forums there's a French film called "Martyrs" that you need to check out - The ending in particular, sounds extremely disturbing.

Interesting that The Ring or The Grudge didn't make that list above ... From other people Ive spoken to they seemed to have the right effect in terms of soiled underwear.

3. Shaun Of The Dead

Was this a horror movie? It was a spoof of Dawn of the Dead, an actual horror movie.

It was very funny mind you, especially where they act like zombies to get through the crowd of zombies.

I think that was the bit that freaked me out the most.

The 70's and 80's seemed a real boon for horror buffs .. I remember walking into the Video store and the walls would always be plastered with new promo posters for Horror Flicks.

Aswell as the obligatory Halloween and Friday the 13th (later Nightmare on Elm Street) stuff that was around, some other titles I can remember were:

My Bloody Valentine (which has been re-made I believe)

Another really good French horror movie is Haute Tension, brilliant.

Personally as a bit of a horror movie nut my fav horror series are the Texas Chainsaw Massacre's & the Saw films.
