Australian Idol

Postby trev » Tue Aug 11, 2009 11:24 am

The Missus made me sit through this on Sun Night and it looks like I will be an unwilling participant for the duration

Anybody else suffer the same fate?

any thoughts on the show?

I think they are flogging a dead horse and trying to get at least one Susan Boyle type person on.

and surely Marcia Hines has had some surgery/botox.

Oh come on....
It's not that bad !!

I think it's a great show,
Especially these early shows where they are 'plucking' out the 'unknown' Australia wide.

We really do have some great talent out there that goes unnoticed because it's the girl who works in the butcher shop etc, etc.
And some of the voices on these 16 year olds, unbelievable.

I'm sure there's more of you on here that watch it and just don't admit it ! :D

O:)

You're right Mum, we have this show to thank for Casey Donovan,Guy Sebastian,Shannon Noll,Rikki Lee Coulter. Where would Oz music be without these names?

Watching again. Just because I have to.

Some terrible audition attempts ease the pain.

The audition shows are hysterical, especially the American ones. :D
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

LOL

Anyway...
A highlight for me, although very sad and brought tears to my eyes ...

Was the girl who (at the age of 16) found her mother dead after committing suicide,
She sang a song and played guitar that she had written about that time

Are they looking for talented hard working musicians this year, or just a puppett to put on a string?

Probably a little of both but if they can manage a hard luck story too then they've got the trifecta!

She was very good and deservedly went through.
It was about this time that my "Constructive criticism" got me in trouble with the teared up missus.
All I said was was there was no way in heck that Channel 10 or middle class Australia would let a lesbian win idol.
(not having any kind of go at gay people in any way. She certainly is good enough. More a dig at Conservative/Narrow minded execs who make the decisions.)
and was banished from the room.

Hmmm methinks the old "Constructive Criticism" might come out again at 8.31pm on Sunday!
