Does anyone remember this early 80's cartoon? Around the time of Astro Boy etc - based on mayan legend I beleive. It was in '83 so I would have been 5 or 6 at the time but it captured my imagination like nothing else! There was a character called Estoban (I think) - and some kid with weird hair.

I think it might have been called "El Dorado and the Mysterious Cities of Gold".

Classic!

Yeah sorry Diss, don't recall it either (although I do remember Mungo's) ... My cartoon era started around the time of Electro Woman and Dynagirl, and Valley of the Lost I think they were ... Does anyone remember a cartoon with a Lion who was King, and had a servent named Odeo Cologne or something like that??

Sounds familiar but dont think it was associated with Touche Turtle, he was in the same mould as Magilla Gorilla and Lippy the Lion and hardy har har etc....

Was amongst the first of the japanese made "all the characters look alike" type cartoons, like astro boy and speedracer and that white lion cartoon, simba or kimba or whatever its name was

\:D/ Here he comes, here comes speed racer, he's the big man on wheels \:D/

Give me hanna-barbera anyday!

Agreed - it was definitely my favourite cartoon of all time!

It is the only cartoon that I know of that was like a soapie in that the storyline (which was decent) continued on from one episode to the next.

It was on the ABC at 5:30pm weekdays in the mid-late 80's (the series was repeated a couple times)

There are various websites devoted to it - wikipedia gives a good overview at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mysterious_Cities_of_Gold
