Beat It is one of my all time favourite songs and my favourite Michael Jackson song

I love the guitar riff that kicks it off and keeps going throughout the song (riff - hope that's the right word? Non musical person here)

It's usually ranked behind some of his others on polls but that's how I see it

I'd probably say Black or White but I don't know why...

I remember watching one of those Video Hits specials once that showed the making and behind the scenes of the video clip - the song is filled with hidden meanings, he even has a crack at his sister LaToya in it.

Takes me back to 1988 and year 9. Had to write a poem for English.

50ish teacher raved about a poem one kid penned. He was one of those kids who always got Ds and below.

She loved him poem so much she got him to read it out in front of class.

We're sitting there thinking 'this sounds really familiar'. Then my mate twigged. He nudged me.

'It's Thriller,' he says. 'The Vincent Price bit from Thriller!'

Sure was.

The lazy SOB copied the lyrics from album sleeve. However, he did change the title from 'Thriller' to something I've long forgotten.

Nobody told the teacher, who obviously wasn't a Michael Jackson fan.

Got the best mark in the class. Pretty sure it was his first - and probably last - A.

Not for any lyrical connection, but Dirty Diana was one I didn't mind.

I suspect these are Jackson 5 songs and I know they're really old but Michael sang them so I'll go "I'll be There" and "Ben".

I much preferred the Jackson 5's music to that of family member's solo performances.
So for me it's 'I'll Be There' as favourite.
I don't give a stuff what MJ or anyone else allegedly did or didn't do in their private life.
Anyone who brought happiness to millions through their music deserves some respect.
Jokes ridiculing somebody on the day that they have just lost their life, is in very poor taste IMHO.

What...no Rockin' Robin

First choice has to be Thriller for me mainly because I adore Vincent Price...and the video still gets parodied even today...remember those prisoners in Mexico?

Second was Billie Jean..wasn't that the first time we saw the moonwalk...probably the most recognised hit globally.

I'm sure I'd know the others on the list if I hear them so figured the two I instantly recognise must be it.
