dont read any online news MT because the winner has been announced. Final was last night.
Terry Wogan stepped down after 2008 event when he claimed the contest became too predictable nad no longer a music contest. Was officialy in the role for 35 years

From an SBS forum

SBS has decided to return to the BBC feed, rather using an
Australian commentary. Reaction to Des Mangan's commentary over the past
two years has been mixed: many have appreciated an Aussie perspective,
while others felt no one does quite the job that Terry Wogan does. So
this year 2005, at least for the final, it will be Wogan again here Down Under.

Graham Norton (popular gay Irish tv presenter...you might have seen him on Father Ted) took over this year. As a life long Wogan fan he was much, much better than I expected.

Thought the UK song was just awful but then I can't stand Lloyd Webber's stuff and power ballad type songs. Quite like the winner...not as good as Lordi  but very Eurovison. Had hoped the cute twins from FYR Macedonia might get through to the final but wasn't to be. Did think at times it looked like an East European sex trade conference...but I guess that just reflects what most blokes vote with  ;)

JAS

Noooo surely not! I reckon his last contribution was around 2006? Was spewing that I'd missed it this year, but knowing he wasnt involved yet again has removed that pain ;)

I thought the Australian commentators during the voting were terrible.
They were very unprofessional, bagging just about everyone.
The woman even opened up a packet of chips while she was commentating and you could hear her eating them.
Yuck.
