west australian race caller john hunt is retiring from race calling after tonights gloucester park meeting in perth, for those that have heard him will tell you his calls a emotional, jovial with a touch of flair & most importantly very accurate, he has been calling at gloucester park for over 20 years, with a total of almost 40 years of calling altogether & he wants a change of direction in life, travel & write books

all the best to john on a marvellous career

ps, his last call (sure to be a ripper) will be broadcasted on radiotab 1539am or telecasted on sky racing at 11.47pm (adel time)

Cant agree with u Bayman on this one.
John Hunt Very Accurate ?  U R kidding arn't u?
As a regular taker of Quartets (First 4s) on Gloucester Park, many a time he would just ramble on about the winner and how it was going to be the next champion etc etc or in a tight 2 horse finish would just concentrate on those 2 and when it came to 3rd and 4th he often had NO IDEA and just guessed instead of being honest and saying he wasn't sure.
One night i was listening to the radio of a GP race of which i had a quartet on and he called a 50/1 shot as running 4th which i was happy with although i had it as high as 2nd. 10 minutes later when i heard the divis, it had run 2nd much to my delight resulting in me scooping the Pool :D
These inaccuracies for 3rd and 4th were a common occurence.
Dont know the name of the new caller there but he certainly called the races accurately without all the BS which you need to do for the radio listeners.

And talking about radio broadcasters final calls, K.G. you certainly wont be missed by me, should've been sacked 20 years ago, now just get rid of Graham (i'm NEVER wrong EVER) Cornes and Adelaide will have a good sports radio program.
