Yep another sad loss...seems to have been a bad week as you can also add to the list...

Anthony Menghella...director of Truly, Madly, Deeply and Cold Mountain and The Talented Mr Ripley.

Paul Scofield...classical stage and film actor who played Thomas Moore in A Man For All Seasons.

Regards
JAS

If you're refering to certain accusations from a while back, they were false:

Wikipedia wrote:On 26 May 2000 he was made a Knight Bachelor "for services to literature" at a ceremony in Colombo.[29] The award of a knighthood had been announced in the 1998 New Year Honours,[30] but investiture of the award had been delayed, at Clarke's request, because of an accusation, by the British tabloid The Sunday Mirror, of paedophilia,[31] [32] which was, however, found to be baseless by Sri Lankan police.[33][34][35][36][37][38] The Mirror subsequently published a retraction.[39]
