I've seen it CP and thought it was only ok. Pretty bleak and to me,ultimately unsatisfying ending. 6/10.

Went to the Brighton High School car-boot sale this morning, and came across a VHS copy of 1960s schlock Z-grade scifi entitled "Journey to the Seventh Planet". Being a sucker for hokey vintage scifi I bought it on the spot - for a measly 3 bucks.

The blurb on the back of the video cover claimed the movie was about an expedition to "Neptune - the seventh planet". Think about it. With a blurb like that, I just knew the movie proper was going to be fantastic.

And fantastic it was - in a "this is so mind-bogglingly bad it transcends mere badness and wraps around the scale back into goodness territory" way. Hokey rocket ship full of analogue meters. Stock footage used in abundance. The rocket ship landing shown by stock footage of a rocket taking off, played in reverse. A giant monocular brain alien, given a disembodied voice by some Vincent Price wannabe, accompanied by special effects of some out-of-focus blinking lights. A supposedly barren world being populated by gorgeous scandinavian women. A monocular rat-monster rendered in glorious stop-motion animation. Ineffectual laser rifles. A giant-spider monster presented by close-up stock footage of a tarantula. A cast which has been obviously dubbed-over with "better" voices.

Loved it, loved it, loved it.

Agree.
Its start is unbelievable and your into it from the word go.
Then it slowly builds up and just kind of fizzles.
Still a good flick, but the end isn't worthy of the first half.
Worth watching still.

I watched The Blind Side yesterday, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It wasnt until the end of the movie that i realised it was based on a true story.
I would rate it as one of the best movies i have seen in a long time. :-bd
