People on another thread are bagging it! I've been meaning to see it as I have a lot of Saffa mates from when I lived in London who talk a lot about how important that WC was to their country at the time.

Did they show the All Blacks getting poisoned the night before the final? ;)

INTERNAL AFFAIRS

Starring Andy Garcia who is trying to put away Richard Gere the nasty cop. The chick who played Roseanne's sister is in it as well as Garcia's partner. Also a delectable Nancy Travis (what ever happened to her GRRRRRRRRRL) and Steven Baldwin as Gere's partner. There's a great scene in it when Gere is shagging Baldwin's wife (great tits on this chick, can't remember her name tho for some reason ha ha) and she's on the phone helping Gere set him up.

Gere normally plays no one nastier than the rebelious Officer who was a gentlemen but in this one he's a real arsehole. Top flick.

Lots to like.

Cinematic and well-paced with some outstanding performances, particularly Ben Mendehlson and Jacki Weaver.

But a meandering script lets it down.

Nowhere near menacing enough. Obviously based on Kath and her clan and the infamous Walsh Street killings of two young constables in 1988. I think Col Mclaren reviewed it and had it right, they look more like surfie dudes than the pond dwellers of criminal society that they were.

Absolutely.

Thought Mendelsohn was pretty cold. But then I was always distracted by his costumes. Too well-dressed for me. And Luke Ford (Darren) was just too clean cut.

Just not grimy enough.

And having the kid as the central character was a big mistake. Typical of AUstralian films, he was a blank canvas. And he didn't drive the story.

Then there was a whole bunch of unmotivated action. Second half was a drudge - just another suburban bore. The ending was complete and utter BS.

Like it even less the more I think about it...
