But he was always arrogant and egomaniacal - you could tell the way he thought of others and treated others. There was a thin veil of contempt and a conniving nature from the start. He was just in a position where it mostly had to stay under his guard. Right from the start, I haven't taken to him. However, you're right, he has progressed.

in the first season i think pity was the main emotion, but yeah, they have definitely turned him into more and more of a dick. Which I think is brilliant.

Q. wrote:Game of Thrones does it well, Jamie Lannister for instance.

yeah they have certainly softened their stance on him and made him much more likeable. Similarly with bronn and sandor, who are both much more likeable.

but that is different to breaking bad, where the show is fundamentally about Walter turning into a dickhead

Watched the first episode of Fargo last night.

It was really good. Different characters and story to the movie but very similar look and feel, definitely feels like the "fargo" world.

First episode was almost 70 minutes long too, and the story and the way it was shot meant it felt like a short movie.

Certainly very interesting though, looking forward to watching the rest

Watching The Writer's Room on ABC at the moment. Oscar-winning screenwriter Jim Rash (The Descendants) talks to showrunners, writers and cast from hit TV shows.

Interest ebbs and flows depending if you're into the show or not. Loved the Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones eps. Biggest revelation was how Benioff and Weiss butched GoT S1.

Just finished The Newsroom series one. Awful. Just awful. Goddamn awful. Even more unbearable than Sorkin's previous effort, Studio 60. Jeff Daniels is the only good thing about this show.

Watched Game of Thrones series three on one break from Sorkin's dud. Finally saw the "Red Wedding." Waited three seasons for what happened in that castle. Long live the Lannisters!

Glib, phony, preachy, pretentious, heavy-handed, smug, sanctimonious... but I can handle the usual soapbox Sorkinisms.

It's the moronically naive/idealistic, wafer-thin, one-dimensional characters - and their identical rapid-fire speech patterns - that do my head in.

Tonally it's all over the shop. The screwball comedy elements really don't work.

And the score! The melodramatic score! That s#!ts me to tears!

This show is what would happen if Chuck Lorre turned Network into a sitcom...

I'm with MP. I watched it because I'd started it. Very bland and conceited.

Just finished Breaking Bad the other night. The ending was a bit 'bleh'. To be fair, it gave us what was expected.
I seriously wouldn't have it in my top five tv shows of all time - probably not even in the top five since the commencement of the binge era.

Reakon AD and Curb are the two best sitcoms of the New Millennium (so far!)

Caught a few repeats on late night TV recently: lightning in a bottle.

Reluctant to watch the latest series.

Just sitting on my hard drive...

Anthology series, apparently.

New location to go along with the new crime and characters.

Big rumour that Brad Pitt might sign on for Series 2...

Spewing, I'll miss the intro song :D

I was wondering how they were going to do it and I thought new case/story/actors would be the way to go.

First series is the best series I've ever seen.
