Yep. Was different to what I was expecting, but was very good. Clint didn't even have to act the grumpy old prick.

I concur, saw it last friday for the first time and very good, no where near as violent as I thought it might have been after watching the trailer

I agree it is a good picture. My Vietnam Vet mate told me they showed them that movie in basic training to illustrate the value of discipline and good military order. However I did read somewhere the suggestion that the reports on the defence of Rorke's Drift and the subsequent decorations were something of a beat up to distract the public and save some face after the British Army had a Regiment massacred by "savages" at Isandwana(sp). I hope it was not so as it is an epic tale............Men of Harlech come to Glory, this will ever be your Story...

they used to show this at Kapooka for the army recruits, I saw it when I went through in the early 80's, certainly an eye opener to a young impressionable 17 year old, and when some of your instructors were vietnam vets, you listened

From a couple of documentaries I've seen about Isandlwana I think it might have been...but only a bit (Lord Chelmsford has a lot to answer for imho)...the PR machine of the time in action afterall Isandlwana was the worst defeat against a native army in British history (I think it still is)...but no doubting they were heroes at Rorkes Drift although I'm not sure bolting would have been an option even if they'd wanted too.

My Year Without Sex was My 90 Minutes of Torture.

Painfully unfunny Sunday night ABC movie at best.

The only people in more pain than the central character were the suckers who forked out for this drivel.

Just saw the digitally restored Wake in Fright at the Sydney Film Festival.

Thank God the epic 12-year search to find this forgotten gem was successful.

Tone somewhat different from the book. My reading of the book is that it was a psychological terror, a living nightmare.

This is also in the film but there are also a-lot of laughs which makes it something of a black comedy. The passing of time might have something to do with that, though.

Saw both Terminator Salvation and The Hangover over weekend, with restricted footy duties.

Terminator was okay, but not up to par of the first two. Maybe a 6-7.
The Hangover is one of the great incorrect films of all time. So many scenes / lines that are just so wrong, but hilarious. A full ten for that one.
