Charlie Sheen's open letter...

What does this say about Haim Levine [Chuck Lorre] after he tried to use his words to judge and attempt to degrade me. I gracefully ignored this folly for 177 shows … I fire back once and this contaminated little maggot can’t handle my power and can’t handle the truth. I wish him nothing but pain in his silly travels especially if they wind up in my octagon. Clearly I have defeated this earthworm with my words — imagine what I would have done with my fire breathing fists. I urge all my beautiful and loyal fans who embraced this show for almost a decade to walk with me side-by-side as we march up the steps of justice to right this unconscionable wrong.

Remember these are my people … not yours…we will continue on together…

Just finished The Murder Room by Michael Capuzzo
Highly recommended. Group of American law enforcement experts looking into cold cases. Have read some criticism that it deals with events in timeline rather than case-by-case and so loses continuity, but isn't that how solving crime works?

Nearly finished The Book of Emmett by Deborah Forster
Good, but hardly life-changing read IMO.

Nearly finished Snouts in The Trough by Andrew Fraser
True story into one disgraced policeman's experiences in the Vic Police Force. Very interesting stuff. However, the author has been in jail for drugs charges too (actually arrested by the cop adn his corrupt mates), and the style of the writing is to coloquial and as such at times makes it feel the author is grinding his axe too.

Matty Hayden's is next.

I agree MP, Gilly's was a fantastic read IMO. Am now about 70 odd pages through matty hayden's. Also got pidgeon mcgraths to read after.

Interesting read. ;)

Vince didn't always like to listen to Tommy's elongated drum solo's, so he had ways of keeping himself entertained during these solo's. It took a willing participant to help him, but I think you can do the maths yourself.

Brilliant.

I was up to the chapter on the Enigma cipher last night, and didn't get to bed until 11:30. Literally did not want to put the book down.

Singh describes methods of encryption & codebreaking thoroughly, but using worked examples rather than mathematics. The result is a little too long-winded for my liking, but it makes the subject matter easily understandable and accessible to all readers.

This is all presented in historical context. The development of each cipher is discussed along with the period in which is was used, how it related to earlier ciphers, exactly how it was employed, and how the technology of the time supported its use. The historical consequences of the breaking of various ciphers is considered. One gets a good sense of the "arms race" between code-makers and code-breakers.

Still got half the book to go, but am very impressed with what I've read thus far.
