Reached episode 472, and quite a bit has happened.

The Freak teams up with Marie Winter to get Anne out of the Governors chair. On a night where there wasn't much on the telly, they decide to arrange a riot, drugging the coffee urn so that the other officers are asleep so the women can run amok. While probably the least publicised riot in the series, it was probably the most action packed as it was non-stop action throughout the entire riot. Winter decides to take the chance to kill Myra, but Reb doesn't want to be involved, so Marie throws her down the stairs. Joan and Heather (who wasn't drugged) see Bobbie over a near-dead Reb so she gets the blame for the attack until Reb lags on Marie. With Marie facing certain Blackmoor over the riot, she arranges with Joan to escape via helicopter (though was it a dummy or a blow up doll that hung for dear life on the helicopter).

Anne was to be relieved of her duties as Governor, but after she heroically saved Leigh Templar from a chemical fire in the riot, remains as Governor.

There's also a mysterious storyline involving Edna Pearson. For legal reasons (I believe it was too close to a case that was actually happening at that time), they had to edit the bulk of her storyline out of the Australian DVD's (though I understand when they're released in the UK they will include this storyline).

Meanwhile, the days of O'Reagan's Revenge in the kitchen are over, a kitchen mishap sees her replaced by 'Gay' Ray Proctor, who was not only serving gourmet meals to the women, but also nicking more kitchen supplies than the women

Also, we see a bit more of the compassionate side of Joan, who's taken a local kid, Shane, under her wing.

Reached episode 480 of Prisoner.

Bev Baker is in for killing/decapitating a few people and decides to mutilate some of the women and herself for kicks.

Joan is sacked for her role in the riot, Marie's escape and an attack of Reb. While the officers are delighted to see the back of her, the union forces the officers to strike to get her back. Dennis decides to disobey the union and continue to work, resulting in the union blacklisting him (for now), forcing the department to suspend him. Heather attempts to do the same but is attacked by the other officers on the picket line.

The prison continues to operate as normal with social workers replacing the officers. The female social workers think it's a good chance to peddle their theories on the women (which goes down like a lead balloon). One of the male workers, Phil Cleary, is accepted by the women and continues to volunteer as a social worker - mainly to make a move on St Meg. The other male social worker is killed by Bev Baker on one of her killing highs, then decides to give herself a heart attack by injecting oxygen into her blood stream.

The women are attempting a world record waltz record to raise money for a deaf institute Judy's grandson is in. Looks like Channel 10 used the storyline for some cross promotion for the 1984 Olympics (which they had the rights to), by having the koala mascot for the 1984 Olympic squad as the mascot and a visit to the prison by Cliff Young.

Meanwhile Ann is starting to get a series of threatening letters - later to be revealed to be done by Phylis Hunt's partner.

Also, Angel Adams is in for fraud. She fools everyone into thinking she's sweet and innocent, but is really a maniuplative spoilt brat who turns the women on each other.

Reached episode 490 of Prisoner

Angel Adams is exposed as a spoilt brat when her grandmother reveals to Ann that, amongst other things, she burnt her parent's house (with parents inside) because she didn't get her own way. When the women realise what she's really like, they initially send her to coventry. Then when the women realise she arranged the rape of Meg, they scalp her, resulting in Angel having a nervous breakdown.

Stan Dobson has returned as prison handyman, but his main storyline evolves around his relationship with Bobbie Mitchell. He decides that he wants Bobbie released into the custody of him and his wife Edie, and arranges a day release for Bobbie. All doesn't end well when Stan and Edie decide to leave Bobbie alone in their house while they go for a walk. Bobbie decides to call her sister, who injures herself answering the phone, and Bobbie's attempt to rescue her results in her arrest for break and enter. While Bobbie did leave a note explaining her whereabouts, it was misplaced and not discovered to well after the incident.

The other main storyline is Ann's threatening letters. Lou Kelly (who becomes the regular villain until well into the 600's) finds out about them and decides to do a couple herself. They're easily found though and she ends up not only getting done for the letters, but for the murder of a police officer at Anne's house. Lou then decides to escape. The first attempt, during a baseball game, is foiled by the women (in particular Marlene). The second attempt, is successful, where she attacks officer Joyce Barry (now a regular in the show, and remains with the show to the end) and forces her at gunpoint to take her out of the prison.

We also see the introduction of the first inmate that remains in the show until the end - Lou's current sidekick Alice 'Lurch' Jenkins.

Reached episode 500 of Prisoner - the culmination of Ann's threatening letter storyline where Phyllis Hunt's partner Brian Lowe kidnaps Ann and Meg and holds them hostage in an old warehouse filled with plastic explosives and trip wires. When Lowe visits his mother, Phil Cleary is also there and Lowe shoots him dead. Lowe dies after falling through an old set of stairs. While the cops discover the warehouse, they're unaware of the trip wires and inadvertently blow the warehouse up, killing one cop and seriously injuring Ann and Meg. When Meg regains consciousness, she finds out she's pregnant as a result of the rape Angel arranged.

As a result, Wentworth is currently under the temporary Governorship of Joyce Barry - need I say anymore!

We now start to see some ridiculous, and quite unrealistic story lines around this time. The first one is three men - serial rapist Frank, the younger Matt and old lag Geoff - from Woodridge are secretly transferred to Wentworth after they foiled a mass escape attempt. Currently they're residing in isolation. The three men result in Visitng Justice Sarah Higgins - now an inmate for corruption - released into the general prison population. The women hold their own trial for Sarah and sentence her to doing everyone's punishment for 6 months The girls don't get the chance to enforce the sentence though as her throat is cut shortly after the trial.

Also, new officer Len Murphy (played by comedy legend Maurie Fields) is transferred from Woodridge to Wentworth in a role that's pretty much the opposite to his comedy work he's more known for. Len's wife left him for another woman, so he's quite homophobic, which causes great tension between him and Joan - who both want to be the chief corrupt officer in Wentworth. While he is pretty much the male version of Joan, he has a very soft spot for Bobbie, who he helps develop her talent in electrical work.
