YEP must be an old series surely james hasn't gone

Noooooooooooooooooooooo....he's still there thank god :D and if you watch those Sport Relief videos you'll see him in full on OCD mode :D :D :D

Sounds like it might be the first series after they transferred to the old airfield. IIRC the guy only did that one series before May took over...think his name was ????? Daws or something like that.

Aussie hosts announced, I've not heard of any of them (which I am hoping is a good thing - I couldn't think of anyone I had heard of who would be any good).

Charlie Cox (assuming its the same one) was an Aussie who lived in the UK, i think he was managing a radio station there?

Ran a few races in the BTCC when it was very big (15 + years ago) and had a monster crash one time when he rolled his car a few times.

Then went on to commentary, did the BTCC and British Superbikes.

ALso competed at Bathurst once or twice. Qualified and ran way down the back.

Has a slightly "odd" voice, but did a pretty good job in commentray.

N.B. New series (UK version) starts Monday night.
He's still my hero even if he is a little bit crap.

You're going to love the Africa trip...seen it a couple more times on reruns and it's just as funny. From what I remember it should be ok for little petrolheads to watch as well  :D

Caught this the other night by chance and can't see how it will work here.

Production costs alone would be prohibitive for an Australian show.

Never mind the talent...

Tonights episode was a crack up. What a life these guys lead. In my next life I want to come back as a Top Gear presenter.

Clarkson sure had the formula right for designing an amphibious vehicle to cross the channel!

The whole amphibious car thing was insanely funny... mostly at James May's expense, like normal.

Is there a person on Earth more oblivious than James May? He's the funniest bloke on the show - who could have thought a keel would double as a tea board?

Although one-liner of the night was Clarkson, in response to the coast-guard flyover and questioning of his intentions: "Our intention is to beat beardy-Branson".

It must all be off-the-cuff because you can't write this stuff, even Mrs Smac (who would be the polar opposite of a car person) loves the show!

Might have changed my mind on it being THE funniest ever though as you've got plenty more treats in store with this series but I won't spoil them.

Sorry brod but you're going to have to get into training...there's plenty more laughs to come :D

Thankfully over here we have a station called Dave (used to be UKTV something or other). They continuously show reruns of Top Gear as well as Buzzcocks, Have I Got News For You etc. I never tire of watching the Top Gear repeats...just as funny every time :D

Hope your own Aussie version works just as well when it gets up and running.
